    LED Interior

I upgraded my interior lights to blue LEDs and upgraded my license plate bulbs to white LED's. I must say these things are super brighter than I expected. The last LEDs I put in my last car were not this bright...then again they only had 2 LEDs on the bulb whereas these have 5 LED's per bulb.

Here are the pics. My phone camera don't give them justice but tonight I checked them out and its like a club in my car!

    mini amp vs factory amp

First off, let me say, great thread. I'm about to do the same in my 2003 infiniti g35. Why did you choose using the mini amp vs the one installed by the factory? Just looking for a little clarity. Thanks!

I'm all anxious right now. My new amp is just barely making it to U.S. After I receive it imma look for something supplied here in the states...can't live without my music yet over the past week I had no choice. It's been crazy...

I don't want the factory radio and I wanted my tablet totally replace which requires removing the factory radio from the double din. I don't listen to cd's and haven't for years...I don't listen to the radio and I haven't for years.. So naturally I needed a mini amp to simulate the function that my factory radio would have been used for anyways.

The crazy part is that there are tons of mini amps out there but only a handful have features that I want and of that handful this was the only one that I could find that has an extended IR so I could place the amp wherever (within the length of the cable). I have since stepped back a bit and decided not to be so pressed on a remote and purchased a universal volume control knob (see below) that I can plug into the amp as an alternative in case my remote breaks, battery dies or something (hindsight is crazy business).

I tested this with my mini amp and it works perfect. I even found where I am going to mount this. Right dab in the middle underside of my center dash next to where my IR is mounted (see below)

Oh well that's just one of those things when you buy something from overseas. I'm super anxious now.

How is the sound quality from the amp? On par or better that the factory headunit?

For the most part aftemarket headunits or amps put out more power and sound better than factory. Unless you have some luxury vehicle that came with a top notch system, but even then its probably BOSE or some other decent highend system.

So to answer your question, with the amp my stock speakers get way louder and seem like I upgraded them. Not to mention the audio sounds crisp and clean compare to having the stock headunit.

    Back in Business

Wooohoo! I am back in business. So I was able to isolate the problem and it was my IR. Not sure how that got damaged or why it stopped working. There are no moving parts. I will inspect the old IR cable later. In the meantime I hooked the new IR up to the amp and both the new and old remotes work with it so that's good. Plus I now have an extra amp...just in case.

On the bright side I also now have a manual volume switch that I will mount in case this new IR decides to fail also (hopefully not..hopefully this was a just a fluke).

    Replacement IR and Volume switch

I have connected the new IR and volume switch. Stay tuned for details and pics.

In addition, I did not have a chance to test my tablet outbound calling in the car through my bluetooth integration because I was waiting on my new amp parts. After work I tested my outbound calling on my tablet and it was simply awesome! The call went through the bluetooth integration so I was able speak and hear through my car speakers.
