Done Deal on the Tablet
So I broke down and ordered a Samsung Galaxy tab through verizon. I know I will be paying monthly but I figured that will be handy if my hotspot enabled phone is unavailable. They also sold me on some perks due to my account status..I was able to have it billed to my account plus they are throwing in a case and screen protectors...what can I say...
I should be expecting the tablet no later than Wednesday next week. I can't wait to start modding my dash. I actually may have to order a larger size acrylic sheet for the mount. I will know more once I receive the tablet.
hmm... I may be able to integrate this docking solution with my dash...gonna take some creativity.
I found a few sites that sell it but I am sure there are others:
I also used plexiglass to create an iPad bezel. Its easy to work with and holds up great with super glue.
That motorized install is awesome!

Wow! Verizon already shipped out my tablet I ordered just yesterday. Can't wait to get it. In any case, here is an update on the phases of my install:
- Install cameras and 3-way split lcd mirror
- Tint my windows (double limo all the way around- as in my last car)
- Install Scosche bluetooth modules for handfree and A2DP
- Modify double din mount for tablet
- Install Connect2Car Anywhere G2
- Upgrade stock audio components (all Alpine- because I've been happy with it)
Each of those phases are more involved than listed and may actually be performed at the same time.
If I decide on using an actuator I may use a Firgelli mini linear actuator. There are a few robotic sites that sell them and they are reasonably priced. It would also be nice to use a remote control system that could be integrated with bluetooth connectivity to extend the actuator...perhaps like the Connect2Car MFC Bluetooth system for controlling accessories via bluetooth. That product appears to be forever out of stock.
Very cool ideas. Keep us posted, please!
As a Sprint Tab owner I feel I should warn you that CDMA tabs(Verizon/Sprint) don't get a lot of love from the developer community. If I could return it I probably would have gotten an AT&T version. Best of luck to you.
