    EGO Flash OLED Display Relocation

Ok so remember when I stated earlier that I did not want to cut any factory dash stuff..well I was just joking

Turns out that the original location where I had the EGO Flash display mounted just above my tablet was no good. The crazy Phoenix sun made me decide to move it. So now I placed it below on the front of my lower storage bin door. I don't have to worry about needing it at eye level because its just an integration point for my music and phone I don't need to relay on the display for anything on a constant basis. It's dark outside now so I will take another pic tomorrow when there is more light.

I drilled a hole through the lower storage bin door so that I could feed the cable from the EGO Flash display straight back and feed it up towards the top of my dash where the EGO Flash module is mounted. This also allows the display to adhere flush against the door. I am also going to relocate the volume control from underneath the dash to inside the storage bin on the wall or behind the door.

I also config'd a task to turn on my display roughly around the time I leave work. So what about those times outside of the daily routine? Well I installed the tasker app on my Droid Bionic and config'd a task to send a text to my tablet thus waking it. I created a tasker widget so that all I have to do is tough the widget and the text gets sent. This prevents me from having to actually launch my text messenger then type and send the text manually.

I installed the no lock app so I do not have to worry about unlocking after the display wakes up which also prevents the display from going back to sleep if it is not unlocked. By default i set my display to timeout in an hour and have brightness set to auto and powersave enabled.

I configured another task and widget on my Bionic that sends a text to my tablet with the term "Timeout". Then in response I have a task on my tablet so then when it receives that text from my Bionic it will set the display to timeout in one minute. Since this actually changes the display timeout settings to one minute all of my other tasks to wake up the display sets the display timeout at an increased interval for 30min which is good enough in case I end up going out to the store no sooner than when I get home or something...which happens often

Great build! Could you please list brand/model of the Mini 4 CH amp you used? I can't quite make it out in the pictures. Also how is it's performance?

This is actually some brand shipped out of Taiwan (PBC AMP-168)...I got it from eBay. What attracted me to it was that it was unique from all other mini amps that I have seen. It has a remote control which in itself is not so unique but this one has an extended cable for the IR (about 4') which works great because that meant i could mount the mini amp off to the side and the IR in front of me. It works great for what it is and actually provides some great output to my factory speakers. They sound like aftermarket. The drawback is that I have only seen this supplied through ebay from overseas and while it works great and the sound quality is also crisp and great, the design of the unit may be not as well. One of the channels in mine blew and I think somehow the IR connection got shorted out somehow. So I purchased another one. So far its been working fine. Could have just been a defected unit.

Here are two photos from one of my earlier posts:

In any event, ironically I was just looking into a different amp, one supplied here in the states.

Great! thanks! Do you have any links to eBay auction perhaps for the PDC? I am unable to locate any! I am on my second amp now after first using a Phonics Digital Mini amp and now a TDA7850 and while both sound good the PD has turn off crackle and TDA7850 has noise even after ground loop isolator. Frustrated haha.

I understand the frustration. I had to actually go dig it up myself in my past email because it is hard to find. So here it is and Eureeka! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123

No prob. Just thought I'd mention that if you do decide to order it don't expect it over night. It has been my experience it takes a few weeks probably due to the whole customs thing. for the price it actually pumps out some good sound.
