I have tried with my galaxy tab as hotspot, and connecting from an lg P970 and a galaxy S and both can't connect. Searching the web, I found that thing of ad-hoc and infrastructure.
I am using Wifi tether and Barnacle wifi tether for creating wifi hotspot, because here in italy all telephone companies don't allow you to use the data plan with the smartphone/tab as an hotspot, but only for navigating from the phone. With the standard app this is visible, but with wifi tehter or barnacle you can use it as you want without being spotted :)
Yeah. I rooted both my phone and tablet.

1 million posts ago (not really but it sure seems like it) I posted how I was rigging the ability to make and receive calls from my Galaxy Tab. It was a bit dramatic but it worked. So I came across this post on thegalaxytabforum.com. It's a way simpler solution using your google voice account. Works great.
I can't wait until I can get back to this project. Right now I have a few other minor priorities...but soon enough.
One of my YouTube subscribers mentioned an app in the Google Play store called Tablet Talk the can connect your phone with your tablet enabling you to control your calls through your tablet in addition to SMS. It uses bluetooth and the app has to be installed on both devices. It's a paid app and I am going to check this out this week. It seems the logic is like this: a call comes into your phone, a popup occurs on your tablet with the caller info enabling you to answer or disconnect. The voice call itself can stream through your existing Handsfree device. The advantage is that you will not need to reach for your phone as it information pops up on your tablet display.
Check it out: Tablet Talk
Yuppp, check out my thread I wrote about Tablet Talk in there, I've been using it since I installed my Tab and LOVE it.
I didn't read the entire thread but this turned out great! I'm planning on putting in a galaxy tab 2 into my Ford Fusion! Great info here.

So I purchased and setup the tablet talk app on my Droid Bionic and Galaxy Tab. What an awesome app! Now I can answer and make call from my tablet interface. It is just using bluetooth connectivity with my phone so its a simple config. Even SMS notifications popup. I do have a bluetooth module setup through my system so in reality the HFP audio is going through that unit to my car speakers not the tablet.
The tablet is simply just an interface and that's it..but a nice one nonetheless. I will probably make a video demo of my setup soon. This just about addresses the question about phone connection with the tablet for making calls and SMS. Now I don't have to use the GoogleVoice/GrooveIP solution on my tablet for making calls because it will just go through my phone now. However, the GrooveIP/GoogleVoice solution is still a nice backup in case my phone is dead or something. I can still make calls without my phone.
You have a lovely setup there, I am not really into car modding, however I am incredibly technical and geeky. In fact I break out in spots if my phone goes out of 3G range!!!
I wonder if you could post the names/links to components necessary for connecting the tablet to your speakers.
I would assume that would include:
Is there anything else? Did you need any sort of patch lead to connect the amp to your speakers or did you remove the factory harness?
I am moving to a Galaxy S3 in the near future but at present have an iPhone 4s, are you aware of anyway to integrate that into the solution in a way similar to tablet talk?
Thanks in advance for anything you can help with. I bought a Skoda Octavia VRS last week but it only has a 6 cd changer and I am fed up of changing CD's already.
