    Tablet Mount Model

Here are the pics of what I was proposing for my mount using the Samsung Galaxy OEM car mount and my double din kit. Hmmm..I may revisit this design but here are the pics anywayz.

This is a side view. I am using the bolt from the OEM galaxy car mount. This model I just have a cardboard attached where I would mount a metal or acrylic sheet.

    Front view

Top View. The problem with this design is space needed to the power cable. It is L-shape which in this scenerio is not optimal.

You may notice that this design is not as cool or extravagant as others that you see in this forum. I may keep mine simple..I really need to remove my factory radio tomorrow that way I have a better idea on how my mount will be.

I just came across this thread in the completed project section of the forum and they just so happen to have their Xoom tablet mounted how I am planning for my Galaxy mount. It got me thinking that while the tablets look really nice integrated "into" the dash, it does not have to be that way to look nice. I think I would like the flexibility to rotate my tablet if I wanted to. Tomorrow imma go check out some metal sheets at Lowes and Home Depot. I am still trying to decide how I am going to connect the backplate (whether acrylic or metal) to my double Din frame.

I went to Lowes today pricing some metal sheets. I am undecided whether to use my acrylic sheet or get a metal one for the backplate (Wall) for the tablet mount.

Now why do you need the A2DP device again? For the tablet? How do you plan to power it on? I just saw terrible reviews for it @ Amazon. Please share your experience.

I needed something like that if I wanted to use BT headphones with my Nook, but I thought of this one: Sony Two Way BT adapter.

Did you ever decide on your Bluetooth A2DP device?

I got mine from eBay. They were $99 a pop but worth it due to the high quality. I had a backup cam in my old car which I had to deal with halos from lights, etc. These provide crisp video and come with custom housing/mounts and 6-ft cables with RCA connection adapter. These work at night as well. I notice in the low light the image turns black/white then as surrounding light increases the image turns to color. I am really satisfied and impressed. I believe these were meant for Trucks, RVs, etc. Who'd a thunk to mount them on an Altima..ME!

    Found it on eBay

    Mod Time!

I went shopping in my storage closet this morning. My dremel and drill are all charged now. Time to cut my acrylic sheet to fit my dash kit. I decided to just use the acrylic as the wall that will hold the tablet mount. I will be reinforcing the sheet with a combination of screws and adhesive.

Later I need to purchase some acetone to melt a few areas around the ABS plastic on the Dash kit to make it more secure as well.

My tablet has a full charge so I am simulating a situation where I am leaving it mounted with the screen light off and the Tunein app launched. It should hold a decent charge for a while (a work day at least) if no extra data is streaming or apps are being used. I could just close all of those things before I get out of the car but that manual process would get old after a while....although I could just use the task killer for that with just one button.

    Tablet Mount Mod

Well folks I worked on my double din kit today. I cut the acrylic and drilled the holes for the bolts.

Here are the pics but before you comment on them please take note that I still have the blue protective film on the acrylic on purpose while am still modding. Also nevermind the spaces you may see between the acrylic and dash kit as this will be fixed once I permanently bolt and seal with adhesive.

This is the front with the acrylic bolted on the top. I will eventually smooth and taper the edges to blend with the dash kit. I am not concerned about the silver metal bolts either that is minor this is still a work in progress.
