I came across this post on xda developers for configuring your Galaxy Tab for outbound and inbounds calls if you have verizon. It's essentially using VOIP integrated with some SIP service. I got it partially working. The step by step on the xda forum is missing some details but I am able to make outbound calls on my tablet now.

I am troubleshooting the inbound call scenerio. It partially works...still trying to figure this out. So basically if I can get this working stable then I can forward my calls to my tablet if I am on the road through Google Voice. This will enable me to have complete functionality of my tablet.
We went to the lake today and I used google maps, Tunein radio and Mortplayer. It was awesome! If I can get this inbound/outbound call stable then its all good.
This is a pic of my Galaxy tablet dialing my wife. I did notice this SipDroid app does not seem to respond to the tablet orientation. So unless you have the flexibility to twist your tab vertical then you just have to tolerate it sideways. That's minor and I will probably send the developer a suggestion about that, I doubt I am the first to request that feature.
I posted a video demo of my tablet while waiting for my wife for lunch. Sorry...I removed the audio from the video. It just gives you an idea on functionality.
This is just a demo of my tablet using the bluetooth streaming and a remote for controlling audio.
As the title of this post suggests..I am going to root my Galaxy tab today. I've been happily driving around for over a week with my cool new tab mount. While everything as far as functionality is nearly perfect, I think it's time blast down the brick wall and root my tablet.
I will be able to then expand some of the functionality of my tablet. You may have noticed that I stated that it's nearly perfect. That's because I still need to modify the handsfree and A2DP solution. First, the scosche device works with both protocols and can pair with multiple devices but the problem is that only one device can connect at a time. Second, I found out through looking around that the shop wired the scosche UBRH to one of my cigarette lighter connections...this explains the low whine I hear through the audio.
I need to find a way to rig what I have so that I can have handsfree and A2DP with multiple devices connected. I also want to have the UBRH device disconnected from that cigarette lighter and to a more optimal connection to the battery.
Those are minor issues though (easily fixable)..I'm still happy with my choice of tablet and mount.
Nothing special here. I've rooted my tablet and now I'm flashing the custom recovery. Next step will be flash a custom ROM..WOOHOO!
My tab is stuck on the Samsung logo on reboot..nice. Well no time to fix this now...gotta go to the movies. I will have to check the forums when I get back.
Well I found a solution to my soft bricked tab. No worries because I know what I need to do next time. The fun is not over yet!
I was able to unbrick my tab. Just in case anyone else with Verizon soft bricked their galaxy tab trying to flash a custom recovery image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967175
