    Microsoft VX-2000 probably won't have enough resolution to record license plate numbers, would it?
    With this camera license plates are visible on distance about 5 meters. To receive more quality of video you may use other webcameras but most of them can't record at the night. If you will record video with other camera and bigger resolution then you will need more powerfull CPU. With this VX2000 Atom525 used on 15-25%.

    Here's a link. The center mount that holds the 7" screen is detachable, so it should be able to accommodate an 8" screen without a whole lot of remodeling...
    Sorry I didn't mention that I don't have a Toyota, this will be going in a 1997 Saab that only has single DIN slots so there will be remodeling already.

    Nice install, which type of adapter of resistive buttons do you use in your car?
    I don't wanna be a product of my environment.
    I want my environment to be product of me.

    I used this adapter. It has it's own software which interprets keys on the steering wheel and if pressed maps them to any key code of the PC keyboard.

    I want to use this same display and would go the same route with removing the external casing but I am hesitant to buy since I don't know the panel size. I have 7.5'' x 5.25'' to work with and am worried that this will be too wide. The problem with mine is that I can't cut anything to gain more left/right room. Do you happen to know these dimensions?

    Thanks.

    Edit::

    I found this link http://www.mp3car.com/lcd-display/14...imensions.html where someone says its 7.6inch x 4.6inch but didn't confirm.
    I am using this screen in a build just now and confirm it's 7" & 6 10ths x 4" & 6 10ths
