Yeah, I've seen the direct fit ones, I liked the factory look of the one Green has in his Ute, so I was curious if there was a similar one or that one fit.
Hi, I'm towards the end of my planning for my car pc, until i saw this tread and the mention of RGB working on the stock SS-V screen. Can you keep us updated please? I had a motherboard chosen with a vga but if i don't need it then it opens up my choice of mb - assuming DVI to RGB wouldn't be a problem.
Cheers
Chris
I loved your design, very good!! . and that ship is your car! very good!
Have you got the ELM327 Bluetooth OBD working.
No-Limit electronics in Melbourne sell a module that will activate the RGB inputs when you press the NAV button.
Tell them that Michael from Command Auto told you about it.
cheers
Michael
With regards to the VGA RGB cable option, I am toying with the idea of installing a carpc in my WM Caprice.
It already has the factory satnav, so yesterday i pulled the dash apart to see how it went with a computer connected to the lead.
I had no success, tried many different resolutions down to 640x480 but the screen just stayed blank. I believe that a special resolution and timings may be required to get it to appear on the LCD.
I have since read people with garmin boxes have been able to get them appear on VGA, so there must be a setting that allows it to work?
Anyone have any more luck?
I you unpluged the satnav then the screen want work as the satnav sends a signal down the GMLAN to activate the screen
I only unplugged the VGA lead, left everything else connected to the satnav unit, as soon as i plugged the cable back into the satnav (while the system was powered on) the image came up, so i'm pretty sure it was a timing / resolution issue with the computer
