you can create a widget with task to disable profiles, so when you plug the tab at home it won't start.
btw, did your tab plays a short sound (like "blimp!") when you insert it in the dock?

Oh, hmm, no clue then if mine does that since I've never put it in the dock when it wasn't plugged it, I know it does make a sound when I put it in the dock when plugged in though.
2005 Dodge Magnum RT, Samsung Galaxy Tab install
Just stumbled on this thread while looking for ideas and installs for the Galaxy. I am going to be putting mine in my Jeep JK 4 door. Since it has vinyl windows and a soft top I am thinking about a more permanent approach to the install. While I love what you have done with the pop-out method, for security I will probably be sealing mine behind the trim as I don't know that I would always remember to take it with me or lock it up when I exit my Jeep. Kinda a CYA.
Anyways, I have been using Tasker for years and have some pretty good ideas for automation on the tabs. For one, since you can set the screen to stay on while charging native to the Tab your main focus needs to be making sure applications like Maps, Navi, Places and other GPS dependent apps get the location necessary to perform correctly. One of my profiles is set to enable GPS when they open and the exit task turns GPS off when they close. Also, I will not be using a head unit like you have. I will be using streaming radio like TuneIn and Pandora. Right now I have a profile to launch TuneIn (which in TuneIn's settings you can have it auto start the station it was last on) which gives you the factory radio feel. If you left it on when you turn it off it will come right back on. Tasker launches Tune-In and immediately goes back to Home when power is detected. Streaming radio starts but I am at my home screen. Also, I will be using an external 4 ch amp to power my speakers. No sub right now but will probably add on later. I use "volume widget" which allows me to have rocker style buttons on my home screen to control call, system, music and alarm volume each independent of each other. This is nice considering my tab's volume keys will be concealed. I will be running Torque also with a Bluetooth OBDI2 transmitter (amazon.com $30) which will give me all the digital computer information like MPG, error codes and resetting options, RPM's real-time and speed not dependent on GPS. Torque is a paid app in the Market but waaaay worth it for that extra geek appeal. To top it all off, Netflix will be running for my kids to enjoy a road trip movie. Just some ideas I have and will be doing very shortly. I have all of these apps already on my GT10 and my 7 is what I'm installing in the Jeep in case you were wondering if they all work as I stated. As soon as I get it installed, I will get some picks up.

That's good to know that there is a Tasker "expert" out there that is also using Tasker for the car environment. Once I get to that point, I'll be looking you up for some suggestions! BTW, I think this would be another great app to have in the Jeep...another reason I wanted to go with a Tablet and get rid of my CarPC...APPS!!!! GForce and Inclinometer Car. I've also been looking into ROM'ing my GT with Cornerstone. Don't know if you heard of it yet, but it allows you to have up to 3 apps working at the same time on one screen (true multi-tasking). Would be great to have GPS on the big screen, music player on one of the smaller screens and either OBDII or the clinometer app on the other smaller screen. Check it out here. I've been searching and so far there isn't a ROM for the GT2 7.0 (P3113)...yet!

You get all of those awesome things in the Torque App http://torque-bhp.com/ No need to buy additional apps. The OBDI2 tool is on Amazon for 23$
I have Torque too, but need to begin studying it.. there's lot of useful information that I can't decide what to look for![]()
Nice work.
