I got word back from the seller of the cameras I mentioned a few posts back. So they are about 3" long and 1" high. That's much smaller than my older cameras and they come in white, they are color CCD and have night vision. My other good news is I found a supplier for the 3-way split mirror monitor like I had in my old car. I must say I really miss my cameras. So looks like I wil be able to do the same hook up in my new car only the cameras will be lil smaller.
Keep us posted.
For some reason I cannot seem to get my work-log out to the completed section as this build never ends.
I am thinking of adding a DVR to my setup.
Who knows, by the time I get the funds to do that, I'll end up needing to upgrade my cameras again tooo.
I have an order of things to be done before I do any dash mounts/mods for my CarPC <-- so what do we call them now because "CarPC" is so 2007. I guess it will just be smartphone since...oh wait. How about CarDroid? LOL! Anywho back on topic.. This is the order I plan do the mods on my new car. Trust me there is reason behind the madness.
- Vinyl Wrap hood - White Carbon fiber
- Install cameras and 3-way split mirror monitor
- Vinyl Wrap roof and trunk - White Carbon fiber
- Tint windows (double limo like before)
- Install mini amp (connectitity with bluetooth and smartphone to car speakers) similar to how I had it in my last car
- Install touchscreen with MimicsX2
- Install Bluetooth A2DP, HFP module with mic
- Upgrade factory speakers
A Touch of Vinyl
I couldn't resist..I decided to cover the factory silver accents on the sides of the double din with silver vinyl that I had left over from my last project.
Dash with accents removed or whatever they call those thingys.
This is the vinyl.
Yeah... I forgot how much drama the vinyl wrap is. It's not so bad when working with flat surfaces but once you start getting into curves and stuff..D-R-A-M-A. That's why I just pay to have my car wrapped. With that said I decided not to wrap the accents..yet anywayz.
It seems that I have found the new amp that I will use to connect my phone or tablet audio to my speakers similar to how I did in my last project for the 2009 Altima. Hmmm... this looks nice: JBL MS-8.
You and that vinyl...
This post is actually regarding the cameras...
They look pretty interesting, especially if I can get one with night vision.
Do they come in black? Or can they be "vinyl-wrapped" in black?!
Let me know what, or better still who, your supplier is. Thanks much!!
I would imagine you could wrap them but I saw they come in black also. I have no supplier just a bunch of googling and found what I wanted on ebay.

I stumbled across this thread on how to replace the front LED map lights in the 2013 Altima. This is what I was looking for and at least I now know how they have this things in there although I believe that I will think of a different solution...but if anyone else has a 2013 Altima here's the solution. Interesting that Nissan is using a circuit board for the front LED map lights. Seems kind of a dramatic thing for something simple.
First Set of LED's
I received the first set of LED replacements. These are for my dome and map light. Time for some custom soldering fun for the map light. The rear dome are just simple bulb replacements.
These are the blue LED's that I will be installing.
Removal of the front maplight enclosure. Simple unsnap.
Underneath view of the board that I will be working with the custom solder for the LED replacements.
The stock LED..measly thing.
