I have Android right now in my car (provided with the Nexus 7 tablet) and I hate it. See my 2nd post for details.
Basically I want two things that Android does not have:
    1. Mature and stable, specifically built for car interface (such as Centrafuse)
    2. App in app (for example running Sygic or iGO in Centrafuse, where you still see the buttons for controlling everything)
Oh and I don't think you can convince Android to use a custom DTD for MFD2 such as I explained in my previous posts. Android was never built for VGA output, and while it might work with some SDK devices (or even on my current PC) I'm guessing it will handle VGA as it handles HDMI. No signal customisation.

    Touch screen:

This touch screen is a perfect fit for the unit. Unfortunately is not to be found anywhere in Europe. Sad.
Also this one might fit: http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/MIC...-0514-t005.pdf The same, nowhere in Europe.

There is 1 of the first choice in stock at mouser http://ca.mouser.com/ProductDetail/F...dJptZ7jLA5cw== If you can't buy it direct. I would be willing to buy and ship to you as long as you pay. SNO

Thank you SNO. I just finished my order at mouser before I even read your comment. I appreciate it though.
I ended up buying two touch panels : T010-1301-T350 which was Discontinued and I got the last piece available, and also the ever so slightly different in size T010-1301-T691 with AntiSmudge. Will see which one fits and/or works better.
Also ordered NC01850-B045RS 4-wire USB Controller which also supports the newer Feather multi touch panels but sadly not available for the size that fits the MFD2.
I payed for the merchandise 70 EUR and 60 EUR for Taxes & FedEx.
Now for the waiting game.. (I hate this game)

    Up next.
    Cool ideas for this project.
    1. Catch the GPS/Compass data from CAN-BUS (factory installed GPS) and translate to NMEA telegrams (and emulate a separate serial port for the GPS software to connect to). [Let's hope these are transmitted all the time on the CAN Bus and not only when MFD2 is set on navigation mode.]
    2. Setup macros for climate control and window settings. Ex. : Set climate on front blowing + open driver's window 20%.

(..still waiting for the touch panel kit goodness..)

I know the compass data is on the canbus but I'm not sure if the nav unit exposes it to the canbus. Would be interested to find out though. The window and climate controls sounds very interesting. In my car this in formation resides on the comfort bus while the nav unit is on the infotainment bus. Some translations happen between the can bus controller so some data from the infotainment bus shows up on the comfort bus and vise versa but not all data is translated through.

I'm crawling for data about the VAG infotainment and comfort bus telegrams but there's so little info out there.
The prospect of spending hours in the car at below freezing, logging CAN telegrams makes me wanna punch Santa.
Also till the real ( http://elmicro.com/de/canusb.html ) can usb cable gets here I'll have to play with an elm327 Chinese clone and see if I can make it read some raw data. These guys certainly did something nice with elm here : http://jazdw.net/vag-blocks/

Anyone having such info please step in, don't be shy.
