OK good news when i put a 12v and a 5600 ohm resistor on pin Vswitch i get data from buttons with out registering any other devices to the ring.
im going to create a document with detailed list for each button press.
here is a picture of the unit What is outlined in red, I receive data for. so track forward, track back, the back button, the bottom right knob; forward, back and button press, and the 10 buttons to the left and the right of the LCD
Here are the Can ID's and Messages I receive when i hold down each button. This is only when 12V plus resistor is on pin Vswitch. if no signal on the pin I get no outputs.
Note the XX value at the end of the message.

Now that's what I call teamwork! Good job RHCP4Life, this discovery eliminates the need to simulate TV Tuner and together with my idea of switching it with a simple DO controller it will make for a complete delightful unit.
P.S. I suggest taking out your email immediately if you don't want unlimited amount of p0rn in your box.
That is the box with the circuit breaker for Vswitch (for now goes to a button in the glove compartment but it will be switched by the PC when the time comes), and the automatic power on/off circuit commanded by the switch UB+ signal from the unit. It also has the CSync converter.
I will be taking out the unit again when I'll get my hands on a CANUSB device and some sort of DO controller for the VSwitch.
For now it's working great! I might need a better GPS receiver. Currently using a Globalsat BT368i on bluetooth.
Also, just bought Centrafuse a few moments ago. I'll just make a clean install of everything on a brand new SSD. Too much garbage accumulated on the prototype HDD anyway :p
Looking good guys. I'm working on coding my arduino to register itself on the bus as the radio which will allow me to page into and out of head unit control mode fro. The steering wheel buttons. Plus I want to be able to scroll the now playing information across the MFD screen.
Learnt lesson.. Don't forget to test your HVSync -> CSync circuit in freezing temperatures before bolting it to the car. Mine is flaky and doesn't get proper image stabilisation till it gets to 10-15 deg C which in my 2.0 TDI means about 10 minutes of driving.
How well does the computer handle those temps?
Will you change the design on the circuit? or just get a upgrade the transistor?
