I started in the carpc hobby with an Android based unit, but had so many similar issues with it that I pulled it after less than a year. There's a thousand bucks down the toilet.

I went with an atom based windows 8 unit next, and it was great, but I did not like the all in one concept, because it meant pulling the dash to upgrade and play inside it, as you normally do with such a hobby.

On my third venture I went windows 7 box with low power i7 mobile based trunk mounting for ease of access and extra speed and power. This has proven the most satisfying config so far.

Now that native audio DAC support is coming to android, I may venture into Android again for another try. Fortunately I have 3 cars left to play with, but I am keeping the i7 unit in the Camaro.

why not just use the PL2303 app for your BU353 S4. Use tasker to launch it at boot. get it here, and set your U3 to allow mock locations. Works perfect for me.

I would love to hear what software you are running on your pc? I struggled getting RR to work/look nice. Centrafuse seemed better in the older versions, phone still didn't work. None of the apps, which for me made it worked everytime they updated it.

I do actually have all the stuff bar a case to build an itx i3 pc, and I'm still considering it. I've designed this so I can swap out hardware at will. Not sure I'm going to get on with this on the move.

Will give that app a go on the gps.

Cheers, will give it a go. Things like the traffic cam apps and adds on for the others were nice, are there any available for Driveline?

    $2.40 a litre here. Still driving a 20mpg car.

Had a quick go on driveline. Quite like it actually. Might be swaying back to PC.

Forgot to mention the A6 got upgraded sometime in the last few months, it has 5 cylinders and a turbo now.

Going to finish the android unit first.

Found this, which should hopefully run the odroid while the cars off for a good while with any luck.
