how do you find the video quality with this head unit. I assume you connect to the dvd player with a composite. I still have to trouble shoot mine, as I finished the primary install at 1 am, but am sure mine isnt quite right.

    John,
The remote is a presentation device I got from targus. It's a little bigger than the picture made it seem, but it's smaller than my X10 remote, it's RF, and it works pretty well. I miss the programmable buttons though. I ordered it directly from Targus. It was about $50.00.

Here is a link to it.

    Chronic13,
It's not VGA so it's not perfect, but I think the video quality is pretty good. The HU actually comes with another little box that has all the aux A/V inputs and then a single cable runs from that box to the HU. That second little box only allows for composite input. There's a picture of the second box on my cardomain page.
I'm actually having some issues with static on the screen right now, but that's a result of power and grounding of the PC and not anything to do with the screen. When I plug the PC into an extension cord running from my house, the static disappears and the screen is crystal clear. The static is only there when the PC is running off the car's power.
I'd really like a screen with VGA input, but I'd rather have the clean look of a screen that retracts into the dash when it's not in use. And it's still pretty cool to see the screen pop out of the dash on it's own.

    bgoodman,
I got the PSU from idot.com. They have a pretty decent section of mini-itx hardware.
Here's a link to the PSU.

I really dig the install. A glove box mounted mini-itx seems to be the best option for my Nissan pickup. There's absolutely no room in the standard cab. But the location of the stereo and the empty pocket below equals a double DIN space so I might be able to save some $$$ and install a screen in place of the head unit. Again, very cool install, I like the way it turned out...

Sorry it took so long to reply...been kinda busy.

The new PSU is working well. I haven't had any problems with the 12VDC line. I have a fused power wire running straight from the battery to this:

    That goes to the computer.

The only problem I'm having right now is my video cable running from the PC to my screen is going bad.

Alright, here's an update. I've been using the Targus wireless remote for awhile now and I have to say I'm not very impressed. Although it's small and RF, the fact that it has no programmable buttons really hurts. The button setup also makes it pretty hard to scroll through playlists or anything else for that matter. I'm looking for something new now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd really like to find something that's small, USB, RF, and has at least a few programmable buttons.
