How thick is it? Is it liquid and then I learned that it dries very fast. How did you .. err place it there? Swipe with your fingers? and then you needed to sand it? Can you explain the process for a newbie who can only imagine how the bondo looks like / works.
Well the green is "fiberglass" bondo, not regular bondo. Its not as "creamy" as the regular bondo, and is a little harder to sand. I used popsicle sticks to smear it on there. Then I used a really rough sandpaper to get the major rough out, then moved to lighter to get it smooth. Took about 3 applications before I had it pretty level, then a couple more touch ups to get it perfect.

How fast it dries depends on how much hardener you mix with it. Too much and the stuff hardens in 5 minutes, not enough work time. Just follow the directions and you'll be fine. Wear a mask when you sand the fiberglass stuff... it will stick in your lungs.

And as a basic update. Just finished working with "real" fiberglass resin and matting to build a custom sub enclosure. Now that was a lot of work. Came out great though. No pics til next week.

are you using anything after the regular bondo? i.e. glazing putty?

I definitely recommend it. I don't remeber where I got it since I've had it for like 5 years. It's like bondo but requires no hardener. It goes on all of the little airbubbles, scratches, dents, whatever.

Great stuff. Can't wait for pics!

nah I havent used anything besides the fiberglass - I am going to carpet the sub anyway, to keep the trunk looking fairly stock - so the sub itself doesnt have to look pretty. It fits in the left of the trunk where the CD changer was so I lose very little trunk space...

Oh btw - A while ago I mentioned using an actuator system and posted a few diagrams. Well I have all the parts and have begun to install that as well. Going to be sweet - assuming I dont electrocute myself

I went to tweeters to get carpeting for my computer case. They actually gave it to me for free! You can probably get it at any car audio shop.
