My version of the Car Computer

Hey guys,

Been reading and learning here at the forum for the last five or six months. Finally joined in September. Thanks to you all, my car computer lives. I appreciate all the advise you guys give. While I don't post much, I do sort of sit in the background and see what everyone else is doing, what works, and what doesn't. The system I've put together came from some of my own ideas on what I wanted, and some ideas I picked up here. I am about 75% done with my project. Still have to finish the console, side of the control panel, and purchase the GPS, but, it does work. Look thru my website which documents most of the build and install, and let me know what you think. Hopefully I will have the remaining "build" finished in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the reply. I got the Lilliput 7" Touchscreen today. It is way cool!! Not really sure whether I like the touchscreen or not yet. Been using my ATI Remote, and like it better I think. Planning on getting more of console done later this weekend. More pics will be posted soon.

Been playing around with location last couple of days. Finally decided to mount it on the center air vents. The way I positioned it, the vents still work and the screen (7" lilliput Touch) is in nice view and easy access. Went through and changed all the windows backgrounds to a dark color, and changed fonts to a light color and larger so it was easier to read. Been having fun with all my mp3's. I'll post more pictures Saturday night. I am planning on getting sides enclosed this weekend and getting screen bracket permanatly mounted on dash

Here are a couple of shots that you requested. Hope these help. The bracket assembly has a screw with a thumb knob to attach the monitor. Thumb screw has a retainer so it won't fall out of the bracket. Then there is a small square "nut" that is screwed onto the thumb screw. The monitor has a built in slot that just slides down over the square nut. When you tighten the thumb screw it locks the monitor down. The bracket gives you some adjustability as far as up down and you can adjust the right to left "level" of the monitor depending upon where you tighten it down. Hope this helped. Had to re-do the system. Had a problem with old motherboard. Now running MSI KT3 Ultra ARU with AMD XP2000. Got my ATI AIW 8500DV card in it. Now just need to get the Audigy2 Sound card. The onbard sound from this motherboard leaves a lot to be desired. Update my web site with new pics and info. Now listed under Version 1 and Version 2.
