Lexus LX450 carputer

Here's my carputer installed. The lilliput screen is flush mounted to the double din opening without the housing. The laptop is under the PS footwell against the firewall. 300 watt amp in the rear cargo area. Still having issues with power management. Also need to find some red lens for the infrared recievers (wireless keyboard and lilliput) above the screen. I'll also have to change the power switches for the screen, they just don't look right with their silver treads. I'm still deciding which interface to go with... mediacar or mediaengine.

D-link usb radio
Storix USB 2.0 DVD CD-RW
Wireless keyboard
Radio Shack Serial GPS Reciever
Zap Stream Remote

Still needed:
Subwoofer
frame to support the LT so nobody stomp their feet on top of it
red lens to cover opening
more money =)

Need suggestions on usb power. I've tapped into the PW switch for my port replicator and can now remotely switch the LT on and off =) But now my LT blue screens often!!! My usb 2.0 dvd player also doesn't work =( I think it might be caused by the power draw of all my usb devices. I have a 4 port usb 2.0 PCMCIA card that is feeding all the usb stuff. What is availiable out there to feed 5vdc to my PCMCIA card or a powered hub? I have no 5vdc since I'm running a laptop. TIA

My local electronics guy had a switching power suply that would do 5v. In conjunction with a powered hub all became well for me

How hard was it to re-route the buttons that are on the lilliput screen? I want a lilliput because of the price and the higher brightness over the xenarcs but I don't like the button lay out (much simpler/cleaner on the xenarc's). Did you have to do some major hacking to relocate the buttons? Thanks.

I would recommend a slot loading CD Drive instead of what you have. Just to make the setup cleaner and more carlike.

The button circuit board is now wrapped to the back of the monitor. I just soldered some lead to the pw button and tied it to a monotary switch. My lilliput still has syncing problems so I need to press the pwr button to resync.

I was looking for a slot load that doesn't run ide.... I'm using a laptop as my carputer so the only input it has are usb. It works pretty good. Play CD's and DVD's, I can also burn cdr's... I'm happy =) Still trying to find some red lens for the top slot area.
