BMW E46 Custom dash trim for a Xenarc LCD

Hi Guys,

I've been watching and surfing the sites on the lcd and carputer. I just got my new 2004 X5 today! Thank you, thank you. So, now I am in business with an Ebay purchase of the xenarc 700TSV – 7" USB Touch Screen LCD Monitor with VGA and AV inputs. So, I don't want to flood you guys with questions, but my first issue/question is:

1. the ratio is 4.5H x 12W with 7" for the stereo LCD. If I remove the stereo and cd, what can I do about the anti theft lock issue? I'm under the assumption that if you unplug the stereo system, the only way the car will start again is to put your car security code again) can I divert this to my pc using iBus? or what would be some alternatives if this is an issue? thanks.

elaborate on the "anti theft lock issue" please?

i'm getting an m3 soon and also plan to swap out the stereo for a 7" Lilliput. I'm not aware of any anti-theft issues. If you plan to use the BMW stereo again, though, you will have to input a serial key that you obtain from the dealer.

1) The X5 does NOT have an E46 radio. The X5 and E46 have different radios. They are not interchangeable.

2) This is NO "anti theft lock issue" to be concerned with.

So, pardon my ignorance, but should I go to a different forum? What type is the X5 then? Maybe it's a BMW Business CD. But, this shouldn't prevent me from hooking up the Xenarc, right? I just need to fit it and create a mold. It'd be cool to create a mold that kept all the buttons, but not the display.. and then have the computer show the rest in a window running "Java" ha! (P.S. I'm a java programmer but never did molding in my entire life) But, really want to have a pimputer.
