To be honest it makes some sense, I was thinking of having a seperate battery in the boot, and find some charging device,

Be carefull Craig running that invertor, I have shagged 2 x 100amp batterys already in my Audi, they dont like invertors normal batterys.

I got a 3 yr warranty on my last one, and get a new one every year

Ron, I've got an OPUS, but it wont fire my system :-(

So I'm basically stuck with the inverter until I can find a solution.

I'm smoothing the power through a 20A filter between the inverter and battery, hopefully this will isolate the battery from the inverter a bit, plus smooth the volts going into the inverter.

I've got an old style shutdown controller and I'm gonna fit that this weekend weather permitting.

Yeah the opus doesnt provide the watts needed untill they make a DC DC 350watt PSU were stuck with inverters, at the moment im shutting mine down by hand, which sucks, but when I wire the invertor to the AMP which is controlled via the remote wire there isnt enough power to crank the car without losing power to the PC.

I also tried wiring in a switch, but the thickness of cable needed to run was not practicle

I use an automotive relay (12v coil 40A switching) to switch the power to my inverter, I only need thin cables for that.

They cost about a fiver, you can just see it in my inverter picture (attched to the side of it with DS sticky tape). This also means that the shutdown controller doesn't have to handle a lot of power as that can switch the relay too.

In series with my relay I will have a master power cut off switch and the shutdown controller.

Currently looks like this.....

+12V battery --> relay coil --> switch --> GND

Will look like this....

+12V battery --> SDC --> relay coil --> switch --> GND

Nice install. I am about to purchase a CLK and am going to go for pretty much the same set up as you.

What screen are you using? Is it touch-screen? Is it fully motorised?

Any feedback you could give me would be appreciated.

I'm using a VGA touch screen from www.digitalww.com

It's not motorized, you simply push it in and it pops out enough for you to pull it out of the dash. It's got a USB touch screen interface.

If you check digitalww's website out you will see that he is advertising a VGA motorized touch screen, but people have been waiting on these for about a year or more. Still not turned up.

I have one on back order, but I don't expect to see it any day soon.
