Thought I would start asking these ?'s on this forum, as it seems a bit more topical here.
Did the changes you made resolve your USB and Lilliput issues? Also how is the heat dissipation for the screen? I imagine it is ok because it is not completely enclosed. Have you considered a fan or is there really not need?

I agree, this discussion makes a bit more sense here than over at t4r.org.
So far, I haven't had any more USB problems. The Lilliput flickering issue is substantially better than before but still not gone all together. The flickering goes away when I disconnect the Audigy so perhaps there is some kind of interference going on between the two -- dunno.
My screen doesn't seem to ever get hot -- like others have reported with theirs. Also, since it's mounted right between two ventillation ducts, it should pick up a bit of cooling from the air flowing through those (and whatever happens to leak out at the joints inside the dash). I don't think a fan is needed in there. If you did put one in there, where would it vent? It would probably be easier to poke a small hole in the vent ducts to direct air in, if you really want.
BTW, my system survived offroading in Anza-Borrego yesterday without any problems. I only ran it off-road for about ten minutes though before I chickend out and decided to shut it down -- just couldn't convince myself to actually try to destroy what I've spent nearly a year building. :D

I can't say much about the dimensions of the various Xenarc parts since I have a Lilliput. You might be able to make that piece work. For sure you'll need to cut out the lower box. Once you do that, I wonder if you will be able to preserve the rear mounting points. Also, how rigid will the finished assembly be? It's needs to be sturdy enough for you to press on the screen without any give. Assuming the screen and/or part of the Xenarc case you use are big enough to fill the opening in that adapter, I'd guess you could probably make it work. If not, you'll still need to fill the opening in which case you might as well just make up your own assembly from scratch.
The way I did it is very easy. I've never done anything like it before and was able to make it fit right on my first try. It's truly just a 4 sided box with the screen glued to the front. There's a few wood strips glued to either side of the screen casing and then the bondo and paint. I did the whole thing in a week-end, including glue, bondo and several coats of paint.
i think when it comes time, i'm gonna just dremel awway those stupid rounded edges...
rando, do you know if i have the stereo/sub in the quater panel, can i remove it and putin one of those openings/storage cubbies?
