windalo: send me an email to ilya@fortehost.com I'll forward you my boot skin.
aolhater: I spliced the connector on the lilliput and made my own for easy disconnect. I just have a short cable coming out from the back of the screen that unplugs easily.. Originally I was planning to take off the screen when I parked the car, but the notepad trick is doing a much better jobJust flip it over the screen and you cant see it at all! And i love the location of the screen, I was thinking of changing it, but decided to keep it the way it is.

How did you get the pc audio to feed through the stereo speakers? In my current car I got ahead unit with a AUX input i run it too. Looking into maybe getting a Mazda 3 or 6 soon and have been wondering how this would be done on a stock stereo system.
Thanks.
is there a CD/DVD drive on that? and did you just run an RCA cable to the front for video? And secondly how did you handle audio input to your car speakers? 2 more RCAs to a FM modulator? Lastly, how did you handle power back there I noticed all that 4 AWG wire.
Sorry about all the questions, Im still n00bish in this area.
thats an amazing install, I really like the box you built.... maybe I'll go this route in my 98 Eclipse
If you go to Mazda3forums.com in the audio section they have a "PIE adaptor" thread. It makes the stock head think you have an alpine cd changer allowing you to hook up anything that has a 1/8" audio out or RCAs (with a converter down to 1/8") Sofar, it works in all the new Mazdas, except the ones with the Bose system.Originally Posted by appletech

That's what I'm planning on doing on my Mazda3s soon.![]()
I didnt!Originally Posted by appletech
I took out all my factory speakers and replaced them with JL components in the front and coax in the back. This process also included replacing all the factory wires with 16AWG for each speaker.. I've routed all the new wires to the trunk where they connected to my JL 300/4 amp. From there i just ran a simple mono to rca cable from my carputter into the inputs for the amp. Right now I'm driving without the HU radio or CD player. I'm waiting for the overload's aux-in module (which should work for mazda6/rx8/mazda3)

Main reason behind waiting so long for that unit.. It will allow me to use my steering wheel controls to control my media player on my computer
CD is in HU.. which I cant use right nowis there a CD/DVD drive on that? and did you just run an RCA cable to the front for video? And I didnt run an rca cable for video, I ran a 15' svga cable.. Just make sure you get a well shielded cable with ferrites on both ends, it will help to get rid of external noise.
Power I ran from the battery (front) to the trunk (trunk) using 4AWG. In the trunk I put in a distro block and from there I'm running 3 8AWG cables, for my computer/front & rear speakers/sub.

I thought overload wasn't able to find the connector to attach it to the HU?
They are still attempting to source out the connector but it's already been decided that he will provide a solder kit instead of/untill they find the connector.
Right now what's holding them back is the software.. They got it to function in stand alone mode, but once plugged into the HU it starts getting buggy. From our exchange of emails.. he gave me 3~5week ETA if everything goes well.
