-The car has been altered to play music from a non-standard source.

Non essential properties of an "MP3car"
-plays MP3s (many MP3cars play other ogg vorbis, etc)
-plays compressed audio (many MP3cars play uncompressed audio)
-uses a computer screen (many, including our founding forefathers, did not)
-does not use microsoft products (hello, windows, and other xbox modders!)
-uses atleast some components not available at audio shops (harddrive headunits, jukeboxes, etc, make for an MP3 car too)

DONE. Plays DIVX, JPEGS, DVD, game ROMS, etc..etc... etc..

Um... I see many people running Windows 2000/xp on their cars, and I am running a hacked BIOS. Sure the platform is Microsoft but....

I am running a 160gig Maxtor hardrive, as well as running USB cables, custom IR interfaces etc..

See i don't understand how an XBOX is not an INCAR PC. it runs just about everyting that an incar PC runs, including LINUX. The only thing i am missing from an incar PC setup is navigation, which i don't need.

Ok so it is an incar PC, excuse my ignorance. But what would be hot is if you can get a usb gps receiver and a program to run on that xbox.

I think you missed my point. I was saying it was rediculus to say you were in the wrong place. I was calling those 'non-essential properties of an MP3car'. That is to say, things you don't need for it to qualify! No need to give me a bullet by bullet response, i was stating why those things aren't necessary. My paranthetical notes explaind why each requirement would be absurd as necessary, and thus i see as non-essential to the 'mp3car'

Great work, the only downside in using an xbox is that you must use an invertor...How long can you keep the xbox working with the engine off and still be able to start your car ?

Congratulations again, that xbox media center is great i always wanted to mod my xbox and now more than ever....
