I wired mine under the carpet. I popped the door sills, and then stuffed the wiring into the carpet. The door sills hold the carpet down, so its not a problem.
I have a question about your wiring. I have a MKIV jetta I am wiring at the moment and I have something very annoying. There are wiring guides along both sides of the car just inside the door sill under the trim. But where the front seats attach to the floor there is a cross member reinforcement that connects right where the wires run. The stock wires run under it fine, but it's jsut about impossible to fit anything else under it. I may have to cram the wires under the door sill trim instead of in the wiring guide.
How did you wire yours?

Do you plan on posting any clearer pictures of the custom trim piece that was made? I know it'd help me and few others with MkIVs out quite a bit...
Also... did you have to dremel or cut out the metal support for the cup holder tray to get this all to fit?
Hi, that's a lilliput screen and it is as you see.Bye.
I gotta get working on my new custom enclosure. I finally go my new backlight inverter!
Good job. Did you install the LCD yourself?
Just wanted to say top marks to all you Dubbers who have your work posted on this site.
Do any of you know if there are any pictures of installs done on Mk II Golf/Rabit or Jettas as i own one of these and was interested to see if my method was the right one or not.
I know its and onld car but its in top condition and i love it.
Vws are the best cars and I wouldnt own anything else.
I love my 2000 VR6 Jetta. But I have to say I think the quality has gone down hill since the MKIIs.Originally Posted by Big EFF
You both are just stateing the obvious. What does the MKII dash look like? Anything like the MKIII?
If so you can easily put a screen in that space behind the shifter, looks like just an empy pocket. And then just put the comp in the trunk and your good to go.
Mine needs to be updated.

anyway...i think putting screen into mk2 is much easier than into mk3 (based on the space available for setup), and be original...if you're doing this for the first time there is no right or wrong since its all custom and made to suite your needs

I was thinking about putting it into the center console, I have two spares so I should have enough material to make it all, gonna use a Liliput 7in touch screen as I can get them via work at an o.k price.
Looking again at the dash today, Im also gonna explore the posibility of putting it where the standard radio and heater controls are. I could move the radio to the center console and by using bicycle brake cables to activate the heater vent controls I could put that there too. Kinda similar to the Votex center console that you could get to allow you to fit dials in the dash. The only other option is that I do a Corrado dash transplant as I know they will fit in there.
