BTW. I am glad to know that you made yours work, i assume in all type road conditions, you must have done a great job....

When I had a desktop DVD drive installed in the front of my Integra I lived in a town in Pennsylvania with lots of pot holes and dirt/rock roads. I never had a real problem. A lot of people here underestimate 3.5" drives whether they be optical or HDD.

Nice install, I like all the good stuff that everybody else has said.
The only thing that I would change if I were you would be the WiFi. I would try to keep it hidden and have another antenna for it.

Awesome, but definitely not the first. There are couple guys on here that have done it.

I remember the first time I saw it was like in 2001. It was a guy with a Nissan Pathfinder. He used a Mac Powerbook. The project was called Destinator, Pathintosh, or something like that. I think he actually soldered the leads from him steering wheels to connect through relays to a serial cable. He was really ahead of the game back then. Do a search for Pathintosh in google and you might find some cached pages of his old website.

Let me know about that GPS reciever. I'm looking to replace my Delorme serial.

Hi ppgt94, can confirm that the fortuna works great. I used it in my old carputer set up for about 6 months.. no probs what so ever, doesnt really have a boot time on it, as when ever I want to use it.. its there waiting for me. No difference with the top up or down, in the last car it was mounted on the rear self next to the side window.

As for hiding the wifi, I will defo agree with you there, in a prev post I mentioned hiding it, just got to figure out where yet.. I might have some space in the screen piller at the bottom near where its mounted now, just a quick drill of a hole and stick the aerial through and the wifi behind the plastic maybe.

anyway these are just the little bits now :-) done all the hard work .. :-)

I hate you BMW drivers. You make my setup look pathetic. I only drive every few weeks cause I live in the city, but you guys make me want a Beamer so bad.

    Great job.

And I agree. Even in NYC, my 6 yr old desktop dvd drive works very well under my seat. I plan on replacing it awesome one day when I find an awesome deal.
