    Hi, I am new here.
Would any of you give me direction in installing the audio part? I know that its routing is from PC audio ->3.5mm/RCA converter->amplifier->speakers
but what kind of RCA converter should I buy? the one that splits into two? is it enough? or is there one that splits into four RCA output, and then I plug each one of them to the amplifier? I am having confusion for this part and hopefully you guys can give me a hand on this... Thank you!

Depends on how many channels you have on your sound card and amp. For most people just use a two channel (front - left/right) and plug one set of RCAs into the amp.

For two channel to a amp the installation would be similiar to below except for excluding part 4 and replacing part 5 with the amplifier.

Unhappy My onboard audio card is only 2 channels

Since my onboard audio card is only 2 channels, i will only need one 3.5mm/RCA converter......i think it is the cheapest way to get my speakers to work...

Alternative way...more expensive but better sound performance....is to buy a HU with AUX in from the PC....but i am so poor....

    Thank you for the info...

When you say "alternative" what do you mean? Alternative to what, using a stand alone amplifer? If so, a head unit will most likely not get you better sound performance, just convienience. Those little amps crammed inside a headunit are definitely a compromise when compared to larger stand-alone power amps. I'm not saying there are no good headunits or that it will sound horrible but just that it's typically the other way around for sound performance.

Thanks a lot for posting that. That's the same thread that I refered to for disassembly. I swear I got asked weekly by MKIV owners in PMs on how to take apart the dash. I couldn't find that exact thread but am glad you fouind it!

    I've done it!!!

Thank you for your reply and suggestions!!

I finally made up my mind and placed my bid on Ebay...got a HU (Alpine) for $150. Hopefully, it will produce better quality of sound than before....other than convienience...I know that I won't get the best quality but I am satisfied for what i have.....maybe I will upgrade it later...

    Face Plate

Great install, I just bought a VW Jetta myself, and was actually planning on doing the same thing. I was wondering, how did u get a face plate to fit the console/dash?

I'm working on the install in my Jetta right now...
I removed the stock stereo (monsoon) and cupholders (indash type not the center console type) and the 7 inch xenarc fit in there (the screen itself not the whole case for it).

I took the screen itself out of the case, trimmed down the sides of the front part of the case. As you can see in the pic, it just took a little off each side and the screen itself still fits.

And just so I feel better... it's in a completely different phase than this now...past this too (being painted/wet sanded now), but that pic looks SOOO bad lol.

I've got an mk4 radio cage that has the Xenarc case molded into it.....It needs to be slightly resanded and repainted, but that's it! PM me if you want details.
