    Looking good, DriverFound! This is almost exactly how mine was done. The only think different is I left a small place underneath the LCD case for the slot-load slim-line DVD/CDRW to fit into. Thank you so much for posting these images. It should take some of the mystery out for some of those considering doing this. I unfortunately never took any of the construction.

    BTW, that logo on the right that says "XENARC" is just a sticker and comes off easily with a fingernail. I find removing it really cleans up the install and makes it look more OEM.

    Hello there friends
    I am about to start my toy in my Jetta, is first time doing this I don’t know to much about computers
    I love everything OEM in my car I really love that VW skin.
    How to set that up?
    Is something that comes with the hardware you have installed, or is some kind of software? (downloadable)
    Appreciate for your help from now!!!

    *Update*

    Installed a Optima yellow top deep-cycle battery in trunk. Now I can finally leave the CarPC on Standby for extended periods without worrying about starting the car. Aside from near-instant on/off, it's one step closer to the wifi intrusion camera I've had in mind.

    To go with that, I replaced/upgraded the computer in the JettaPC. I got great deal ($45) on an "older" box on ebay. Some of new specs if anyone's interested;

    Intel 815E / PIII 866 / 512MB / AGP ATI Radeon. The new mobo leaves room for upto a 1.13GHz upgrade, which I've seen go for around $20. Doesn't sound like much with todays newer CPU's but more than enough for a carputer. Just for the record, I found my first 266 was able to do everything I do now (MP3, DivX/DVD, GPS, Wifi), less some winamp viz's. The lower power consumption and heat output is a plus, too.

    Also modded the new case with variable speed "blow-hole" fan for improved cooling.

    The next planned addition is a infrared wide angle backup camera.

    Just for the ****s and giggles I'll probably add pics of the updated setup later.

    Looks awesome, I can't wait until I start my project on my IV Golf. How much did you pay for your entire system, I am debating if I should stay with my stock amp and speakers.

    Just off the top of my head. These prices are what I remember paying. I'm sure current prices are different.

    * IBM Netvista A40p - $45, ebay (local pick-up)

    * 60GB HDD - $80

    * 7" Widescreen VGA LCD Touchscreen - $450

    * 150w Opus DC-DC ATX power supply with startup/shutdown controller - $130

    * TurtleBeach Santa Cruz soundcard - Salvaged from a another PC. (Retail $45)

    * USB 2.0 PCI card - Salvaged (Retail $25)

    * USB 2.0 Powered Hub - $20

    * GPS Reciever - $85

    * Wifi card + 5.5dB external antenna - $70

    * Gyro Wireless Keyboard/Mouse - $90

    * Cables, Wiring, Adapters - $150

    * Software - $200

    * Labor - Lots of time.

    * Set of new component speakers - $300

    * 4-Channel amp - $180 (used, local)

    * 2- Channal amp + 10" sub - $250 (used, local)

    Parts are always changing and I didn't aquire all of them at once. Good luck with your Golf.

    How did you make the dash bezel??? Fiberglass?? I would like to integrate a CD/DVD drive into the console as well, but this is the only place I have seen one?
