    Mike,

You have done well mate, very well indeed. Does the fin interfer at all with the GPS signal. And finally on the GPS, have you done anything to the GPS housing to water proof it?

I am waiting for the most important part of my install to arrive, my car I just got word it arrives tomorrow so I am like a child the night before xmas.

Lilliput is ordered, PC is fully configured, fingers ready for some hard core Bondo sessions.

    Cheers,
    Fatman

Hello. Very nice looking setup. I had a quick question -- who makes/where do I get a USB mount like you have your wireless adapter plugged into? It looks like some kind of panel-mount device. I am interested in using one possibly for my car PC but also maybe for my MAME cabinet.

    Thanks!

the sharkfin itself seems pretty waterproof.. I put some silicone where the wire goes out the back though.. So far so good and I've been through some pretty nasty rain and sleet storms and I spray at car wash time and it's fine....

The Linksys USB network adapter comes with that mount in the box.

where did you get that reset button? I need one too cause sometimes windows will totally freeze and i need to get out and unplug the power supply.

Im assuming its an always closed switch and only goes open when pressed right?

was it a flush fit in your cig adapter, or did you need to modify?

Not perfectly flush.. it sticks up about 3/8" above the lip of the cig lighter.. but i bet if you wanted to you could make it perfectly flush (by not using the included washer)... but it didn't matter to me.. I just wanted it sturdy and the little door on my cig lighter port to close properly..

I had to cut the metal terminals on the switch shorter and disconnect power to the cig lighter (don't forget to do this or you could short your system ) -- I learned the hard way lol

HAHAHAH, ill remember that. Just to verify, the switch is an ON/OFF switch right? So when you press it in, the computer is on and stay ons, and when you press it again computer turns off?

And do yo have any heating/ ventaltion problems. From the pics, it seems like that an awfully small spot, much like how mine is when I lower my floorboard. I wanna buy a mat for my trunk, but that would mean keeping the floorboard flat which gives the compute the same amount of room as yours seems to have.

Have you run into any problems and do you have any more pics showing how much space is in there?

I see this pic here and it seems the the rear as open space, but is that how it normally is, or when you put everything together, is that space covered too?

The switch functions just like the reset switch on your home computer.. When Windows is not cooperating, I press and release to reset.. computer reboots and that's it..it should work fine as an on off switch too..

I haven't had any ventilation problems but it is very tight.. there's maybe one inch of headroom above the CPU heatsink(after cutting away the top of the box... see post #1, pic#1).. On the back, see where the over hang is on that top panel? well another panel attaches to the edge of that and comes down at an angle.. so there's maybe about 1/2 inch on top and 2 inches on bottom--pretty much flush with the cables sticking out..

The VIA CPU runs very cool though.. much cooler than P4's and Athlons.. lower speed VIA CPU's don't even come with cpu fans.. just a heat sink.. It's one of the reasons why I chose this mobo (size and power consumption were factors too).. When you think about it.. ventilation is probably still better than your typical laptop.
