Thread: 2004 350z install

I had a couple of people ask me what parts I had to order to get the 2003 lid assembly to work on my 2004 dash.. Here they are:

1. Lid cluster 68250-CD010 ~ $78
2. Finisher 68410-CD000 ~ $11

You can get them from your local Nissan dealer.. just give them the part numbers. Or you can get them from http://www.performancenissanparts.com too..

...and in response to a couple of posts in this thread I decided to add MP3 and DiVX capability to the system... So I installed a 120GB desktop drive I had lying around and loaded it up..

The tricky part for me was how to get the system to play through the little desktop speaker I had setup but switch it to go throught my radio when I wanted playback of my music and videos...

Well, I was browsing at Radio Shack and found the perfect solution.. it has a cellphone and microphone input too:

Very nice install. I must say, it's one of the best I've seen. One thing. I have that GPS reciever. Isn't it a bit too slow? I've been using it with Destinator software, and even though I know that Destinator sux, the GPS reciever is a bit slow. But I do like that it's REALLY durable (As I have put it through hell [including dropping in a pool]) I think that GPS reciever is the best built, but I can't stand it's speed.

hey leemik, how hard is it to do the OBD part of the install... i've kinda covered most of the other areas pretty well, but the OBD looks like an amazing bonus..

Really easy..

First I had to locate the OBDII port.. It's directly below the gas door release button on the 350Z.. Connect the provided cable.. I ran it along the driver's side door still (under the carpet) to the rear subwoofer area.. and that's where I mounted the elmscan black box using double sticky tape and wire ties. Then, I ran the parallel to serial cable out of the elmscan to the computer's com port up in the "mailslot" area.. There are plenty of holes and entry ways for cables to fit through and get where they need to go.. The car is well engineered

The elmscan has a green light when connected to the car's OBDII port.. So it must get it's power from there. Let me know if you want a pic of where the cable connects to the port.

Thanks man!! I do notice that many times it's slow.. but other times it's right on.. It might have something to do with how many satellites you are able to lock on to? I havent missed a turn yet however so it's worked well for me..

How well does that usb 802.11g work? Do you get good connections?

Pimp system! I would HIGHLY recommed putting a small piece of electrical tape over the red LED on the GPS mouse. The LED may attract the wrong type of attention when you are driving at night (thieves and vandals). Either electrical tape, or completely removing the led will do the job.

Also I have a quick question: I have a modded xbox and i have Slayer's auto-install loaded (all the good xbox apps). How do you get your MP3's & DIVx movies over to the xbox - do you copy them on dvd and then copy them to the xbox? Thanks!

It works OK.. I'm able to pick up all kinds of unsecured networks in the city..

FTP .. I have a xenium chip, evox bios and os.(I'm old skool lol).. I take the xbox out of the car and connect it to a wired network at home.

Yeah, I thought about that but my friends thought it was some sort of new security device hahaha so I kept it that way.

As I said in another thread.. the way I figure it, if someone wants something bad enough they will take it no matter what.. People are just so messed up in the world... but I'm no going down without a fight .. The car is well alarmed with gps tracking, backup power, two way paging, hood open detection, blah blah..
