you should get a rear view camera and use the screen. That would be pretty trick.
Found this here:
"if the vehicle is designed or constructed where the view through an inside rear view mirror is obstructed, or the vehicle is a light truck or multipurpose vehicle with tinting, stickers, etc., on the windows behind the driver, the inside mirror is not required" (but it requires both outside mirrors)
Guess I'm ok in Maryland, wonder if PA is the same...![]()

Wow, this is fancyI didn't know Hinda made these.
The rear-view mirror mod is cool. All you need to make it legal now is to have it display what's behind you. Just recently we had a discussion on what's legal and what's not - yours appears to be okay if it is used as a rear view cam, otherwise they might find it illegal even if you just use it for GPS (blocking the view of the road is what they call it).

Why not do the camera separate to the computer (i.e. use a regular CCD camera). I wouldnt bother with web cams and the like... Does the Lilliput allow analogue inputs?
Most of the CCD Cameras on ebay usually have a flip function, and they dont cost that much...
That might be a good idea considering there are various cheap adapters out there that will let you switch between your PC and the camera with a push of a button.

thats what i was thinking... yeah lilli's have 1 vga, and 2 composit inputs. you could just switch inputs with the buttons on the screen or by using the remote.Originally Posted by Dominik

What does "ccd" stand for. The ones I saw on eBay are around a 100 bucks, and don't really say anything about the flip function.Originally Posted by Dominik

CCD Stands for charge-coupled device - A term used to describe a camera that uses a small, rectangular piece of silicon rather than a piece of film to receive incoming light .
Its just how i was introduced to them - just your basic camera thingy...
About the flip thing - i thought it was a standard feature. Perhaps it is done by a separate module? I'm pretty sure i saw a few LCDs available that have the flipping part inside them so it must be possible by some simple circuitry ...
Sorry i cant help more.
Does Pensy allow screens up front, especially ones viewable to the driver? I know in NJ it's illegal and a cop WILL stop you if he sees it. FWIW, regarding your mirrors, here in NJ you don't have to have an interior rearview mirror if you have outside mirrors on both sides of the vehicle.
