When I saw your setup I tried to copy it and i love it. It took me 4 hours. Very little bondo involved though. I did spend an hour sanding though only to cover it with wrinkle paint. Thanks for the Idea
Hey, I had another question to ask. Was that MATRA radio kit that you bought actually for your car? I'm asking because I bought one that was made for another car and it sorta works, but not exactly how i wanted it to. So, if you bought it online, could you provide a link...and if not, can you tell me what kind it is and where you got it from. Thanks a lot!Originally Posted by snmnetwork

My bad I had a typo on the name of the kit. It's a Metra not Matra. I got the Metra Kit at Circuit City. I also saw them at Fry's. The one I have is for a 2000 Monte. I can't remember the part #, but I'll try to dig it up.Originally Posted by sheerdark

i see that you removed the lilliput buttons. can you further explain that? i know the buttons are on a spearate board connected via a ribbon cable, but how are you turning your screen on and off now? are you using the auto turn on mod?
thanks,

I unsoldered the ir receiver on the board and relocated it to the air vent using three wires from the board to the receiver. I'm turning the lcd on via remote. I didn't do the autoturn on mod as yet, but will be very soon.![]()

Let me first say, this setup looks great. Looks like everything and more to what I want done to my Monte. But...I'm a noob. And noobs are..well...anyway...I'm looking at installing a carputer, I'm not real worried about that. What I AM worried about is the basic car programming features that you access with the stock head unit. (i.e. holding 'display' to reset the warning lights on the console, programming key fobs, etc.) Is there a work-around for this?
Variables Won't. Constants Aren't.

One way I've heard of keeping all those security futures is to simply relocate the stock radio to a different place, the trunk would make sense. However, I have no idea how much work this would require.
This install by the way is super cool!! and I'm wishing to do something like this to my 2000 ss pace car edition
