The reason I didn't take out the extra CD player is because when you use the aux converter, you have to have the master cd player connected to the chain and you always have to have it playing a cd... hard to explain... I'm eventually planning on sticking it inside of the dash somewhere, just haven't gotten around to it yet. The empty slot is wide and tall enough for a 5.25" cd/dvd drive but it's not quite deep enough so I'm working on getting a slim slot loading DVD drive to stick in there. Still looking into a way to adapt it to IDE.
HMMM, that's interesting. What I would do is ditch that CD player, buy a aftermarket Sony or Panasonic or Pioneer, (Panasonic and Sonys now come with built in Aux Converters), Pioneers are just like $35. That's what I did, but whatever works for you.Originally Posted by rulouder22

Peace,

i have the same dash and i know that space wont fit a regular size cd player unless he hacks up his dash..and if he does that he cant put the slave cd back if he wants to go back to a stock look..or hed have to have a very creative way of making it stay up. lol
ya, the little CD Player hole is smaller than a DIN. What I did in my brother's yukon was make it a little storage nook for like the remote for his HU, or any other little thing you might want to put there.

Wow that is impressive. Very Impressive. I like the fact you didnt hack up your dash in order to mount the monitor. I also like the text on the CD Changers... "PLEASE KEEP DOOR CLOSED" thats great. Superb Job.

Nice install rulouder! I just got a 2001 Denali (same style as yours) and I'm looking to do an install similar to yours. Is the CD player in the dash a CD-ROM or is it the factory unit? If it is a CD-ROM, how did you modify the factory unit? Also, where did you get your front grill? Any forseeable problems before I start?
Hey thanks man. No, the CD player in the dash is just the stock CD player, not a cdrom. I got the grille from Ebay for like $30. It's not the kind that just 'clips' in, you actually have to cut out the old grille for this one to look right. A little more work but it pays off. Everything was pretty straight forward, I would recommend using an AUX converter for sound though (so that you can utilize the factory amp and sub - unless you're planning on putting in an aftermarket amp/sub.)
