Good job on the screen integration.

I recently installed a system in my Mazda 3(4 door) as well but I installed the screen above the vents with a flip down compartment and placed the computer in the glove box.

Quick question though: Which GPS software are you using?

Added a little video below the thumbnailed pics, just showing a quick overview of the computer playiing music, video, gps, and internet. It was shot with a digital camera, so quality isnt too good.

Updated the page. I know have the screen molded into the dash. I think it looks much better. 2 newest pics are the last one in the thumbnails.

the molded looks cleaner than the modded dash kit, but I like the shape of the dash kit a little more... the molded thing sticks out a little more. I too have a Strato Blue Mazda3s (sedan though), and one of the major problems I'm facing is a place to mount the screen, but you seem to have a good thing going with the dash kit and now the molding.

    Question:
how did you mold the screen into the dash? Custom fiberglass work?

No, i still used the stock metra dash kit, just cut it someone until i could fit the front bezel in it. Bonded the front bezel in it. Sanded and painted. Now I just need to unscrew 4 screws

any plans of writing a walkthrough for that? It'd be pretty helpful for other Mazda3 owners (like me). I'm still in the planning stages of my carputer but it'd be good to know how to do that.

Have you made any progress on your new design for mounting the LCD? I noticed on mazda3forums that you were looking to get the stock readio look back, and maybe mount the lcd somewhere else.

I'm looking to get a Mazda3 too, and am still wondering were i can mount the lcd - ashtray, in place of the stock headunit, or above the vents.

I was hoping to put my PC in the glovebox, and for some reason had not considered keeping but moving the HU to retain use of the steering controls. Do you think the HU would fit anywhere else? Any way to fit both PC and HU in the glovebox, using a small PC like an epia?
