Well that's just it from the outside when the keyboard is covered up it just looks like a milk-crate w/ wires.. and there's the tinting to help hide it a bit. AND there's the whole BONUS of having the ability to carry the ENTIRE PC inside the house to run diagnostics or to help prevent theft.

It does alright, it's a bit slow on the refresh rate on bootup but once up & running it's alright. I mean ****.. its ONLY 16mb. You get what you pay for. Umm... I'd suggest if you're gonna run the card, gettting a PHAT amount of RAM and working on setting up a V-Ram cache app of sorts.

I got the 10.4" planar and haven't been able to get it to go above 640x480!!!

Thats exactly the news I was looking for.

I already have 1.5GB of RAM (3x512mb) - how would I go about setting up a 'v-ram cache'?? nonono, rephrase, what is a 'v-ram cache'?

Refresh rates on boot dont mean anything anyway! its not like you are doing anything whilst it boots up!!!

Well WinAmp was telling me I was getting about 27FPS running a visualization. I'd suggest just cranking up the Hardware acceleration as high as possible. That's about all I can think of, that and making sure to keep the PC running as smoothly as possible.

Things would be slightly different if it ran off of a VGA output .... I've got a 32MB vid card taht I'm going to try to hook up to the 10.4" Planar Monitor tonight.

I forgot to mention the fact that the Keycorp LCD is **** for brightness in broad daylight. it's got crappy brightness and NO on off controls or display controls. it runs via the PC and starts up when it does.

Interesting install. Hope it works out well for you and dosen't draw any unwanted attention (cops).

Just wondering why you chose to run a seperate alternator. I know the supra alternators don't put out much (my 7m-gte was only rated at 80 amps). I sent it out and had it upgraded to 160 amps which wasn't too expensive.

thats not too much of an issue for me. If i put it where I want to put it, and do the car mods I wanna do, then I dont think that brightness will be TOO much of a problem. Also, I could probably mod the screen to try and make it brighter (change ccfl, add another, add UBLED's etc etc)

Well it has to do with the fact I'm trying to keep the 2 electrical systems as separate as possible. Just to make my life easier. Also there's the fact that I anticipated that I might burn up the stock alternator (I went thru about 4 rebuilds on my 84 Celica GT) and decided I'd simply get a HUGE (for my needs) output alternator that had a lifetime warranty, and was simple to install.

This way I have a bit of redundancy, if the extra alternator dies my car still runs (for more than an hour) (off the battery). Got stranded once when the diodes blew after being overloaded, and they quit charging.... damn fuel inection/electronic engines.
