    2002 Camry SE: Non-intrusive System

It's strange that I haven't seen a posting for a Camry (only the most popular car on the road these days). Just an observation.
A note of thanks to the forum for all the great info.
I tried to make my system easily removable yet clean looking when installed. My wife still has to drive it! It's not as fancy as most of the postings here, but it works, plus I can remove the system in seconds to use it in the house. Comments and suggestions welcome.
This my first posting, so I'm not sure how this will turn out.

    System
    EPIA ME6000, 512MBDDR, 40GB 3.5" HD
    PW70-A Snap-in power
    Xenarc 700TSV (7" USB Touch)
    ATI Remote Wonder (USB)
    LINKSYS 802.11b USB Adapter
    Earthmate USB GPS/Street Atlas 2005
    Audio via tape adapter
Housing: $2 Plexiglass from Home Depot (7"x7"x3")
    Windows XP

    Future Upgrades
Frodo Player (if I can learn how to install it and if it plays WMA's)
Hood for the Xenarc - currently not at all sun light readable.
Andrea Stereo Array Mic & USB Adapter (for VR etc.)
Utilize the S/P-DIF digital audio out to a surround-sound audio system
    ODBII
Rear view Camera - suggestions needed
    DVD for Rear passengers

The bin between the seats is a just right for the computer.

The LCD is just under the HVAC controls.

Here is the hardware - the Camry bin is great for this. I just had to drill some holes in the bottom for cable routing.

Close up of the hardware. Not a pretty case but you don't have to look at it.

The next two picks of of the WiFi and GPS antenna's.

Nice install, I am in process of putting a carputer in my 94 Camry. Looks good, never thought of putting the comp in that middle housing. Good install and I love the dog.
    Continued Worklog... Upgrades in progress:
*15.4" WXGA LED backlight touchscreen upgrade
    *Custom fiberglass dash bezel

    Nice install!

There is one thing I have to warn you.
The WiFi adapter will melt if you leave it there
during sunny day. I know because mine did and there is another
guy in this community that had happen.
Mine still works, but the plastic case is messed up.

Anyway, have fun with your system.

Awesome, two more camrys on here that I didn't know about. I love the PC in the center console, I wonder if the one in my 95 is the same size. It seems like it would be quite a tight fit. I'll have to look into that, although I don't have the money for a mini-ITX system at the moment, and I think I'm waiting for a Pentium M Mini-ITX anyway. Nice install.

    Thanks for the replys!
The center bin works great but the thermal management is questionable. I'm thinking a small fan to move at least some air will extend the life of the components. The fan could mount to the outside of the bin housing and still not be visible since there is sufficient clearnace between the rear of the bin housing and it's finished cover. Thanks Toyota!

    Bump.

Is anyone else having problems seeing the pictures? Ive tried in Firefox (blank) and IE (? error).

I really want to see this install since this is the exact route I'm planning on going with my 04 camry.

I had the same issue...Firefox is my default and I didn't see the pics, just hte captions he typed. Then in IE it had an X in the image box like it's not found! Thanks for putting hte links out there for us.

Looks nice! I wouldn't sacrifice my center storage area for a PC though! Careful not to put your hand in and shock yourself!
