Has your rearview mirror fallen off yet?

of course will all the vibration dampening I bet it hasn't.

12Hz is un-heard of for 10's! ( I didnt think the human ear could hear below 20hz, so litteraly ) My 12" 7500's can get into the 20-30Hz range, but not that low.

major props on this system, by far the coolest and nicest van I have ever seen.

who told you 12 hz is inaudiable... that's not true...... granted these subs won't play 12 hz as loud as they play 30 hz, but they do respond at 12 hz.... rattle the **** out of the doors actually, yes a 10 " sub can play 12 hz..... when a sub is rated at lowest hz it is the lowest freq it can play without being down 3db, doesn't mean it won't play the freq at all.... don't belive me, try it with a test cd... you'll see... if you don't have one let me know & i'll send one to you

<--- not an expert on this

But i heard that as well (below 20 hz inaudible)

I dont think that stops you from feeling it though.

Now i am off to google that, i am curious

I know that at 10 hz test tone I hear nothing, at 11 same, at 12 hz is when these doors start to buzz..... whether it is the actual 12 hz or just the resonation of the door buzzing I can't be sure of, but these subs do buzz pretty hard with a 12 hz tone..

maybe it is more of a feel than a hear, it rumbles..... I'm curious myself..... if I'm not mistaken though I think the limits of audiable is different for different people, but I always thought it was 10-12 hz as common.... let me know what you come up with....

this seems to be indicitive of what i am finding so far :
"Humans can hear from 20-20,000 hertz, or cycles per second. Many animals are capable of communicating below and above this range. Sound below our hearing range (below 20 hertz) is called infrasound. Infrasound consists of low-pitched sounds like those that come from a bass or sub-woofer audio speaker. Infrasound can travel for long distances and go through objects, including buildings, forests, and in some cases even mountains.

Several species of animals are capable of communicating at these low frequencies. Elephants, whales, hippos, rhinoceros, giraffe, okapi, and alligator are just a few examples of animals that create infrasound."

I have found plently of articals that say the range does vary and certain individuals have a wider range, both higher and lower, but cant seem to find any that say how wide that variance can be.

"Humans can hear sounds approximately within the frequencies of 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz. Anything below 20 Hz, typically cannot be heard although it can be felt. This can be experienced to when you feel the bass of a song. Likewise humans normally cannot hear any sounds above the frequency of 20,000 Hz."

yeah, I've been finding pretty much the same..... I guess it's more of the resonation of the panel itself that I hear, but I know that with a test tone it vibrates & rumbles the doors pretty good, guess I am wrong though about actually hearing the 12 hz test tone.... or is it that they play it, but you don't hear it..... from what I remember the sub's just flutter kinda & the doors rumble, this much I've seen...., below the 12 they don't do much of anything....

Whatever, I guess I am off in my assumptions, I just assumed that if the doors rumble with the 12 hz tone they play it.... either way though these things hit real hard where it matters, all I gotta do is pop in some bonecrusher or eminem to clearly see that

truth is when I do finally get the rear sub in I will probably cutting these at around 60hz, right now with no rear sub I cut the doors at around 45 in normal use, to give the lower bass extention, but even with all the dynamat & wood reinforcements the doors do resonate more than they should as used now, & of course the bass in the car is good, but NOTHING like it should be.... when I'm done I want extreme bass, the kind you feel in your chest... the kind that vibrates the steering wheel enough to numb your hands..... obviously these doors alone won't do that.... but all this hz talk aside, these doors are pretty increadable for what they are, hope I don't loose to much credability for my error's that I have stated

funny thing is, now that alti points out the 20-20,000 I remember this.... I guess I just fooled myself whith the fact that the doors rumble with the test tone below that

& oh yeah, @ hhdesign.... even though the bass is pretty good in this truck it isn't intense enough to knock a rear view mirror off the windshield..... that would be if I had a rear view mirror, but it's been replaced with the camera

I may be giving the wrong impression about the bass in this truck, although it is awsome for just the front stage, it isn't any kind of earth shattering bass... I've had quite a few lesser installs that had much more intense bass than this..... keep in mind though that right now the whole front stage is ONLY running at around 175 watts..... that's not going to do any serious damage, although if you could sit in it & here it you'd have to agee that it sounds like a hell of a lot more than just 175 watt's & only a two way front speaker system..... hope I haven't come off as sounding like this was some earth shaking mega boom system, not yet after the 13w6 is in the rear, the doors will be bumped from the 50w each to 100w each.... the 13" sub will be getting 6-800w....

I dont doubt your bass. I would proably say its better than mine, quality wise. Your entire sound system would make mine curl in the fetal position. While I like my subs, sometimes I turn them off just because they become too much at some points. You have every right to brag about your sound system, I dont think I've seen anyone with a 10" woofer in their doors.

I think the 12Hz will rattle your windows and doors and such, but you cant hear it.

I'll take up yer offer on a test tones CD. I'll PM ya when I get home from school/work today.

one thing I do like about my system without the mega power sub is that I can crank it pretty good, & because of all the sound deadening it is really not heard outside the car much with everything closed..... which is cool really... I can enjoy loud inside without looking like a jerk-off from outside.....

I don't like to be the guy that you hear for blocks...... to me no matter how good it sounds to you, for the most part your not impressing anyone.... just annoying.... at least that's what I think when I see these guys with all there windows down & system blairing..... maybe I'm just getting too old... when I was a kid I used to do it too, & think I was cool
