which one, steering wheel or visor? the sunvisor is an illuminated "zippy model # ...610" i think, it lights up blue, & the steering wheel one is a modified gyration rf wireless chopped up & re-shaped. This was pretty tricky as I had to buy a few of these keyboards to finally get it right, keyboards don't like to be bent & curved

Ohhh... muthafck... HOW ONE IS ABLE TO DO SOOOO MUCH OF EVERYTHING ON HIS CAR!?! Its INCREDIBLE, its just pure CRAZY!!! Are you both automechanic and computer geek all together?
I know, I'd porobably be carazy enough to do such, as well being able to do it technically, however I have both not enough time nor so much money to do that...

awesome work.. i can see that you have lots of time and money and patience too.. but now the real question.. how often do you actually utilize your system to its maximum capability?! do you ever drive with a car full of passangers all playing games watching stuff on different monitors or what not? all doing separate things.. can you multitask your system with 4 people? and can they all do the same thing? like play a multiplayer game with each one seeing they players screen idividually? i guess you would need more than one game console for that though.

PATIENCE, that's the key word, & believe me it takes a lot! but I learned a long time ago to do it once & do it right, I will not rush or compromise when it comes to my own projects, to the point that I have several vehicles that remain uncompleted, & will remain that way until I can do it the way I want to, or not at all really...

As far as multitasking, hmmm, good question as this is what I consider most important in an install like this, usability & convenience. This car is now set up as a 2+2 (4 passengers only) & yes, each position can do basically whatever they want independently, although the rear is mostly dependent on the 15.2" overhead, even if it's picture in picture, but there will be a separate pc touch screen in the rear center console that could also display whatever also independently & 95% of the times the rear is either empty or just my son is back there. As far as multiplayer head to head I'm considering it, the new ps2 is small enough that I can stack two of them, & then I can race my son in the back seat, but I donít know if that means that I have to have two game discís also, if thatís the case then I probably wonít bother. I don't think I will add a second gamecube though, & with my son being 8 years old, I'm not ready for Xbox yet...

I'm not one to just add monitors for the sake of having a lot of monitors, & each monitor in my install serves a "legitimate" purpose. Part of that purpose is what you speak of, suppose I'm navigating while my wife is watching a music video or DVD while the kid in the back plays a game, & I still need a rear view, therefore multiple monitors... I DON'T have a 42" plasma screen in the tailgate, to me that's just for show & this vehicle is not about that at all, quite the opposite really, as I want it to be as stealthy as possible, (if you can call a 7 screen install stealthy....) that's one of the reasons this install is in a minivan & not an escalade or an s-class Benz, Iím not into flash or bling at all, I like low key & stealth..., I don't give a crap what anybody else thinks when they look at the vehicle I'm driving, & I could care less about impressing someone with a bling bling Mac daddy on 26's. I build my cars for me & thatís the only person Iím interested in impressing. When I stop at a light I turn the system down...if Iím driving alone I donít have the rear screen(s) on just for show, lately I see a lot of guys driving alone with all of there screens going just to show off, WOW they got a bunch of screens!!! I donít like that for myself & I actually try to minimize outside visibility of my screens as much as possible.

I've been a mechanic since 16 ...now 38.I own a body shop & have been into computers since way back when. I build & repair cars for a living & I have owned my own car stereo shop for a few years in the past, so I may have a slight advantage in building a vehicle like this.

I've built a few other pc cars that I'll get around to posting some day, as well as a few other projects in the works, one is a pretty radical custom minivan that will be built more for show & bling, that one is slated for a 30-40 somethingĒ drop down projection screen for the rear. This forum is a great outlet for me, MUCH, MUCH cheaper than browsing eBay all day... & having others to communicate with about this stuff, not to mention the help available by searching the forums...mp3car.com is greatÖ

I've been busy, but I can give you advice about seperating the screen when you are ready, it's not too difficult & if you don't go too far with the screen then you don't even have to extend any ribbon cables. If you look at my pictures of the head unit chopped & welded then you'll see the ribbon cable length, I'd advise you stick to something similar to my method of securing the screen to the head unit though, so you don't stress that cable, but really it's pretty simple... You had to see the look on one of my employee's face when he went & picked up the two unit's for me (300 & 701)for around two grand & saw me take them out of the box & totally disasemble & start cutting & welding & painting them, I wish I had a picture of his face at that moment...pretty funny actually.... at least I thought so...I guess you had to be there.....about all he kept saying was" but...but...what about the warrentee...what if it don't work....but...but..you are totally nuts...." & words to that effect....how do they say..."priceless"...I wish I had a picture of his face....

I would agree... but.. If you DO happened to get or own an 'Onstar' car.. You can put a switch on the mic input and disconnect the mic whenever you were lets say dealing drugs or didnt want 'The man' to know that your a douchy douch.
