alpine, mcintosh & chopped up liquid cooled dell++

I had to take the laptop completely apart & remove the motherboard to drill for a steel mounting frame for the base...I considered building a new stainless steel case for the motherboard..but it would have taken alot of work & the dell laptop base is actually great as a housing for the motherboard so I kept it a little simple there.....

after all the cutting & drilling & dis-reassy of the laptop it still works fine.......it sucks to get half way through a project like this & have something screw up....I've been there before.....but this one went smooth as silk so far & the hard part is over...just have to add backlight & mount it all up.....I had to cut & extend the console to house this screen.....pictures up when I can.....

either ccfl's or eefl's...haven't had much time to call manufacturers yet.......ccfl's will be easier to source but eefl's are awsome.....much less power draw & heat.... just have to source them.....haven't had much time lately....but I'm sick of driving with the console in pieces....must do real soon.......

wow....1 month went by & still no completion, but we have a local meet coming up next weekend that I want to go to...so I'll hustle togeather an installation this weekend.....updates soon.....

O.K, in the past two days I did more work on my truck than I've done in the last month....I welded up some framework support for the laptop mount & screen mount...it is built from 3/16" bar stock & bolts to the floor in 4 places..& also bolts to the dash..it's really ridgid & secure, while still having a slight amount of flex to dampen heavy pothole shots....the stainless steel bucket that the screen drops into is just flexable enough.....pictures....
