2000 Audi A4 Avant

Just an update on what I have been doing.

After losing my install of computer and stereo when my 98 A4 got totaled, I am finally getting to work on the new install. Here's some random pics I ended up taking...

Building new fiberglass sub enclosure.

The new faceplate - no pics of the front yet. It is installed with the computer behind it in the car right now.

Amps will go in the tire well (on top of the spare - I had to build a false floor that will sit on top of the amps to give clearance)

Looking very nice. I can't wait to see it completed. I know your 98 was sweet (and it's the inspiration for my 98 A4 install), and this looks like it'll be even better.

Where are you going to put the headunit? The Xenarc looks like it'll go right where the double-DIN oem headunit is now.

When you get a chance, please post pics of your headunit location, the computer parts, and the front of the screen.

Mmm, nice. I am doing something very similar to my Avant. Unfortunately my dash doesn't have a double din insert and after much deliberation i have decided to remake the whole insert from carbon fibre. As the trim is all carbon fibre (its an S2:-)) i think it will all fit in nicely. Have most of the bits already and have just ordered my LCD from LinITX but that will take a week or so because they aren't in stock 'til next Monday. I'm also going to use XP media edition and get it onto a 1Gb compact flash with a 20 gb laptop drive in the USB port. I'm not too happy about the various power supply options and don't fully understand it yet, but i'm working on it:-)

I no longer will be using the factory head unit. I will have a small clarion Line Driver/EQ mounted on the ceiling of the glove box which will lead to my amps. I am replacing all the speakers as well, so there will be no Bose system left in the car.

I will try and get pics of the computer location and screen install tonight

Looks excellent, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see it finished, I bet it'll look great. Would love to see more pics.

I see some hifonics amp in there.... they sound really incredible... Very nice and wise choise... What speakers will you be using?

Edit: just seen in you signature... nice choise again. You do know your electronics...

heh heh - actually the kickers went with the totaled 98 A4 sedan a few months ago. I have some Infinity Perfect 5.5 components on order. Trying to get Bostons for the rears again too. The Kicker resolution were very very good tho - I regret not ripping them out when the car was at the tow lot.

And yes, the Hifonics are totally amazing and I will never go with anything else.

I have a friend that has 4 zeus hifonics amps, cristal sound and pure deep bass. For my next amp, which will be in my car soon, I'll forget about Alpine and get one of theese "little" babies...(they're quite big actually...)

The screen look really good. Coming along really well. The computer fits nicely back there, what is it connected to, how is it being held in place?

BTW I agree with Cris, great amps, I got a couple myself.
