very nicely done, allow me to be jealous
I'd like to thank the members of this forum, my coworkers, and my GF for helping me complete this project.
To give back, I've made a photographic record of my work and I'm hosting it at
http://www.bradgeesaman.com/audipc/audipc.php. Over 200 pictures in all.
Hardware:
VIA EPIA MII12000 C3 Nehamiah 1.2Ghz
256MB DDR RAM
Modded Morex Cubid 2699 Black
OPUS 90W
8x DVD-ROM
80GB Western Digital 7200 rpm 3.5" drive
Xenarc 7" 800x480 Touchscreen
Onboard sound card - runs to a blitzsafe adapter
Software:
Windows XP
Routis 1.1
Not decided on a Front End. Most likely FP or CF.
My OEM dash.
My photoshopped goal.
My case with the Opus mounted upside down on the top, the wiring harness, and the painted GPS Receiver.
A view from the back seat. My brother's RX7 is in the background.
The GPS Unit tucks in next to the third brake light nicely. The bonus effect is that I can see the blinking
green light in the reflection if I look at my rearview. That way, I can see if I have lock.
A shot of the CD Changer mounts I used in addition to the wiring ground.
A shot of the fuse tap that supplies the switched power to my ACC/IGN line. I tapped off of the sunroof
lead.
The HVAC Control panel relocated to where the ashtray and cig lighter were.
The headunit and buttons relocated.
The rough fit of the faceplate.
Bondo-hair is tough to manipulate. I used vinyl gloves and tried to work it into the molds as best I could.
The faceplate after lots of bondo and sanding work.
A successful test fit.
A shot of the console with the flash.
A shot of the console without the flash.

Good job. Your console looks a bit playdoh-y, but that might just be the flash. Awesome job fabricating, though. I like the mount of the comp up on the ceiling of the trunk there.
Nice job man. It look very unique. I must say, I've never seen an Audi with a screen mounted like that.
Nice work on the fabrication.
where were you able to get that long of a usb cable from? Cost very much?
Looking good, nice job.
I think it might be the flash. Take a look at the fabrication pics on my site.Originally Posted by fcc

@ Geese,
Very nice work, looks really good.
Where did you put the air intake for the climate control? I don't see it any where.
Also is it difficult to access the climate control when your in 3rd or 5th gear? I haven't moved my controls yet, but I think it might be hard to get to the button when your in 5th. But since everyone puts the climate control there, I don't think it is that big of a problem.
Installed
Asus A7N8X-VM - AMD Mobile Athlon 2400

I sandwiched it between the buttons vertically. Had to twist the air hose 90 degrees, but it seems to work nicely.
Actually, third gear is the most difficult gear to adjust it in because I have to reach around the stick a bit. Otherwise, it's not hard at all. Besides, I don't adjust my HVAC constantly, so I can "tolerate" the location.
