Nice install, fellow Isuzu owner![]()
Hey dudes and dudettes!
I finally got my new Frontera Sport (Amigo in the US) and spent the weekend playing with my new install. Big thanks go to Spyda for helping me at the weekend.
I had to mount the GPS mouse outside as I was unable to get a constant signal underneath the plastic hard top.
The boot is a little ghetto, but I will be putting a false floor in it once I get hold of my carpenter mate and some MDF!
The Dongle can be seen here at the back... are these things waterproof?
You gotta love Xenarcs! Fully legible in the daylight, not even put a tint on my windows yet!
Still to install the Sub and AMP, the wires are in, and routed through, its just that small concept we call time! I also seem to have wired my head unit up wrong and it doesn't seem to keep the memory settings for the stereo when I start it, and on crank... any ideas?
I had to rip (well spyda did) all the dash off, to guide those wires around the back and I fed all the power cables down the left hand side of the car. I wish I had done it on the right now, but hey its done, and I cant find the undo button.
I will be placing the PC in the rear compartment once I can find a decent way of mounting it. I had to remove the plasting insert, but I am sure that it'll look cool once done.

Yeah, I love it... its my second one, I owned the Mk1, but never got round to do this much to it.Originally Posted by sheerdark

Buts it's all down to dollar, and seeing as my Daddy didn't give me a trust fund... its all out of my own pocket
I had to rip the dash off to get the TFT on there, and everything behind there had the Isuzu logo stamped on it...
Lovin it!

yep, very easy. Youve got your +12v (YELLOW) and Accessory/Ignition (RED) wires around the wrong way. Swap them over - problem solved.Originally Posted by chewiee
The +12v should be to your stereo memory/permanent battery wire, and the accessory should be to your power/turn on line.
I'll try it tomorrow... its way to late to be standing on an A road with a maglite
Well glad I've done it though, big sense of acheivement.
Now all I need is to locate some greenlanes for my little baby to wander across!

Very nice install. Very nice car btw...
It was quite a job, dash had to be ripped off and I had only had the car 48 hours...
I've not seen many in that colour, but it does ooze "pimp me please" a little bit. I know its a soft-roader, but I am more than happy with it.
Still to do:
Tidy the install with some MDFing
make a custom partitioned parcel shelf
20" Rims
Rancho 9000s Shock Install
Tinted Windows
Chrome Bullbars and Side steps
Soft Top Conversion
Possibly a 3" body lift
Oh and earn some more money to throw at it
So when we having a Kent/SE Meet again then people? Now I am installed, it's time to spread the word!

I'm actually considering a Frontera myself as "project" vehicle.
If I can find an Izuzu 2.8 Turbo Diesel one. I want to customise the Interior, replace the audio system with car PC system, up the performance of the engine, then run it in veggie fuel. Clean, green and pimped
As they are quite old now, they are starting to get fairly cheap.
Our earlier ones didn't get the auto box option though.
I like how you moulded the screen in. It looks a lot like the Celica GT4 that I started but never completed.
4x4 in a turbo stylee.
