This is the power button with power LED I just put together. Hopefully I'll get a chance to install it in the car tommorow. The black plastic thing is a punch out on the dash (where you see the AV plug and the cooling fan) so it should just snap in and look stock

    Herray!

Finally finished! It has been a while my friends, but I was waiting for my extension cables, turns out there really is no place to mount the pc in the glovebox, well not the size of my pc that is. For now its temporarily in the backset with wires running under the passenger seat from the glovebox, hardly noticeable though so thats good. Here we go

the site is at http://www.nitrostudios.net/carputer/ but since people are lazy ill just post the pics in this area so here ya lazy bastards go.

ill be taking better pictures, i just took these cuz i was excited to get around to finishing the project.

    Looks nice

That first picture though it looks liek you're about to crash into something. hahaha

Do you have tinted windows? And if so how much tint and how well does it block the sun for viewing the screen in the daytime?

Also...when the doors are closed can you see the screen at all from the outside?

I find that in mine there's usually enough light reflecting off the glass in day or night that a passerby wouldn't notice the screen and think there's something to steal. But a little tinting wouldn't hurt that. Plus I need to darken the inside so I can see it more clearly.

Saddly I dont have tints on the driver and passanger sides, but i do have faded ones in the back window and the backseats, i plan on removing them and putting non fading ones in and they will most likely be illegal tints. I cover my screen using a coat, but i think it makes things more obvious, but im working on some ideas to hide it. I still dont have it mounted into the car, i was thinking velcro so i could have easy remove access and place the lcd somewhere like the glovebox. ANyways the fm transmitter is alright, its not best for music, it works awesome with movies, i guess cuz audio in movies are clean instead of beats and what not. I am still playing with the settings, ill keep you updated. I ruined a section of the harddrive somehow, so i just formatted and reinstalled and now im putting my music back onto it and movies. Here are some pictures in the daytime.

I just did the FM Transmitter thing today too. It's allright. Perfectly fine for navigation. Allright for music, but not great.

It's a nice cheap temporary solution until I feel like buying a nicer head unit with an audio in.

Here is a clearer picture of my one.

The current black surround will be replaced with a more 3D one with the buttons.

Here are a couple more pictures.

I also worked on a custom skin, I am still messing with the skin editor though, so i just have a screen shot i did in photoshop.

Let me know what ya think. I might change the font cuz it looks a little plain, but when you mouse over it the background has grain like effect all around so it looks pretty cool.
