0l33l,
Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to check it out!
wizawuza,
No kidding about the size... the incredible thing is that I got a sub installed underneath the dash... haha. I'm still surprised at how everything managed to fit.
holy crap, one of the smallest cars... ever!
great job man, and beautiful car.. I especially love the color.

[Edit]: Oh, it looks like you mounted your HD horizontally![]()
No Hu, Amps? Kinda had the same idea with my prelude, mini itxin the oem CD player.
how much did the navi screen pod cost you? I know for some other cars (i.e. subaru wrx) these same parts cost in the hundreds....

Damn, I hate it when people have nice installs AND nice cars!
yeah, i didn't want to mount it horizontally, but due to space contraints in the case... I had to stick w/ that for now.
I've got a firewire enclosure on the way, so I'm gonna experiment w/ mounting the main HD or a spare HD vertically in the glove compartment or something. I'm pretty paranoid about head crashes so I'm gonna do something about it soon.
Originally, as you might be able to tell in the picture of the hard drive, I was messing around with some drive suspension/shock-absorbtion techniques. The transparent string you can kinda see in the image is a semi-elastic silicon material which I think has a lot of potential. Its called Stretch Magic, and its a material used in making craft bracelets. I'll bet someone can make use of it sometime down the line.
Once again, due to space constraints though, I had to ditch the idea.
Sorry to hear bout your car by the way. I saw that other post about the hit... thats gotta be painful
dingofarmer,
Ooops, I forgot to mention the amp... haha. I've got an amp in the back and the line-out splits into two channels -- one to drive the front components and one to drive the sub. I'm looking into sound card options right now cuz i'm not all that happy w/ turning the gains up so high. I'm skeptical about finding anything though.
hd54321,
the nav pod was actually fairly cheap. I bought it new from some guy off the mr2 board for about $45 cuz he didn't wanna use it anymore. Even new, it doesn't go for more than $100; I'm guessing its a lot more simple than the subaru pod.
BTW, japanparts.com is a good source for OEM japanese parts; i dunno if the WRX pod you mention is a JDM part or not, but maybe it'll help someone.
Spaghetti,
Thanks for the kind wordsI love my car man.... it drives like its on rails... seriously. just got like a billion payments left!
horizontal HD mounting isn't always bad.. i have rubber grommets on mine to help provide light shock absorbtion. I think the fact that it's a seagate helps a lot too. Been a while and not had a single problem.
