That shroud is a stock part? I'm trying to do the same heavily recessed setup in my Subaru and I'm looking at having to fabricate a shroud!the nav pod was actually fairly cheap. I bought it new from some guy off the mr2 board for about $45 cuz he didn't wanna use it anymore. Even new, it doesn't go for more than $100; I'm guessing its a lot more simple than the subaru pod.

Yup, it's a factory part from japan.

I definitely agree on the decrease in usability with having to lean forward. I still have my stock HUD hooked up for the audio (via a tape adaptor - quality is perfect but you can hear the tape going in quiet bits), so I can currently adjust the volume easily enough.

haha, yeah, I got really lucky w/ this setup... almost as if it were meant to be
The decreased usability of the TS just made me work that much harder to get the buttons working
BTW, do you have a link to your current setup? I'd like to build a carputer for a friend w/ a wrx wagon sometime in the future, and it's always great to see ideas.
Not in a single thread. I keep meaning to dig up the thread I started a *long* time ago and add some choice pictures to show the progress. The PC is up and running in my car - but not yet under the seat and I haven't yet finalized the wiring. The monitor is just sitting in the hole where the mini-glove box thing used to be. I had to cut a few mm's of each side to make a slot that the 8" screen would sit in. I've been using it like that for a couple of weeks now with a quickly built cardboard shroud to get a feel for whether I'm happy with that position and how much of a problem sun is (mostly it's not - but every so often the sun is low enough to shine a bit onto the bottom of the screen - despite it being pretty recessed. I'm still toying with the idea of taking the lilliput apart for a truly custom install. I'm definitely going to do the auto-power on mod.Originally Posted by silencery

updated w/ new pics
Beautifull install. In the tape deck, put something like a multicard reader for when you/or a friend have a digi cam and want to look at pics without connecting camera.Originally Posted by Scouse Monkey

thanks =)
We discussed that idea earlier on in the thread, and in fact, that's what I hoped to do originally, but the way the case is setup, the IDE cables block the tape slot...
