Here are a few pics to wet your appetite:

Display mounted just below the stereo.
The shifter just clears it.
The mount permits me to swing the display upwards so I can see the A/C controls.

The computer all ready for my car.
As I stated earlier, I created this case completely from scratch. Used clear 1/8" plexi for the panels, L-shaped aluminum and steel for the edges, and about 200 pop rivets to hold the whole thing together!

Dash mount parts
The one on the left surrounds the headunit and mounts using stock bolts.
The one on the right is a frame to attach the Xenarc to. It uses the stock 1/4" machine screw mount at the bottom of the display.

Here's my car in my toasty warm garage a few days before X-mas. I think it got down to -5f that night!

Edit: I have added....

dual battery tank circut: RatShack #23-289 SLA 5Ah batt & Relay wired in parallel set to disconnect when key is in Start position

Remote starter AUX key fob relay: Wired a relay (RatShack #275-241) to trigger Mobo power switch contacts when (-) AUX output from Valet 562t car starter is triggered.

hey dood, im new to the forum, but have been reading constantly for the past couple days, and am already putting together a computer and ordering touch screens etc. just wondering if you could help me out with a few issue's im running in to becuase it looks like ur setup is goin great. thanx

well it's about friggin' time you got yourself a cool display!

not that your LCD displays weren't cool, they were actually quite impressive with your input control.

when are you going to fiberglass that into the dash? hehehe

I was waiting for that kind of response!
I realized that it was time to dump a wad of cash at the sucker and be done with it! As for the dash - as soon as I can find a spare panel (maintaining resale value...). I went up to Johns Auto the other day and the Jeeps were thoroughly pilfered. Some jerk ran into me on the way home, too!
But, I rigged up a neto mount to hold me for a while.

MN meet this spring - I want to see your dash freestyler!
Edit: ooooooo.... I just saw your site. I must see the night vision camera! let's get that dark, dreary parking ramp again!

Hope that no one was hurt, doesn't seem so. Accidents are a *****. Any way, details...

P.s. My dad also has a jeep, though he has the older dash. Those just scream to have a touchscreen put in 'em.

The fender bender is detailed in another post - no damage, other than some scratched paint on a trailer hitch.
Actually, the older dash has an A/C vent which is perfect for a Matrix Orbital 40x4 character LCD!!! (hence, Freestyler's comments above)
On the plus side, the older dash is made of extremely thin plastic, so it would be easy to mod.

I got my dash panel from some guy on mn-jeep.com in the forsale section, might want to give that a try.

you love my dark dreary parking ramp, i know you do!! maybe in the spring we'll hit up calhoun and be all like cool and shiznatch
