Now, the modifications I'm doing on my 2003 WRX to fit an 8.4" LCD wouldn't have fit in the 2005, as the bezel is completely different..

If I had a 2005, the only way I could have fit an 8.4" would have been to ditch the A/C controls and replace them with servos/relays... which I may still do down the road on my 2003.

Speaking of which.. you don't happen to have a picture of what the inside of that dash looks like, behind the radio bezel?

I didn't even notice that until Guiliano pointed it out. The dead space/cup holder above the radio is gone in the MY 05. I wonder if it's just gone or they relocated it.

If they've relocated it, and you find it, let me know..

I wouldn't mind getting my 2nd cup holder back, relocated elsewhere..

How does the HU-less audio perform?
Volume issues? Thumping?

Was the performance of your car affected by the install?

sorry, dont have any pictures of the inside of the dash, i was too enfatuated with working to stop and take pictures.

the HU-less audio is great, the quality is awesome and im pleased with it completely. the only thing im working on now is volume control. its alittle loud even at low settings, but i think ive figured out a way to fix that. i dont know what thumping is, which probably means i dont have it

and no, it hasnt affected the "performance" of my car (as if it had any

).

Awesome job!

I noticed that my screen is kindof hard to see during the day though. The glare gets pretty bad. I'm looking into tinting my window, but I want to get the tint that doesn't contain any metal in it as it'll interfere with the radio (or gps if you have it on the inside).

You probably already know, but you may want to lower your front/rear gain settings on the AMP to fix the volume issue.

How did you ground everything? I've got a wicked ground loop hum going right now in mine...and I swear to god I have a damn near perfect contact to chassis.

I'm having the same issue with the volume. It's very loud even with the gain turned all the way down. Keep us updated on your solution. Although if I DO happen to blow my stock speakers, I guess I'll be forced to by some nice aftermarkets
