nice to see you more or less put it in the same position as I did (see the link below).

What did you do with the buttons to open the hood and the gastank? As you can see in my case the are still in the smame position.
Any problems with smokers now missing the ashtray?

I've bought an adapter from a German online store selling audio gear but It does not work, it only has two wires with RCA jacks and goes directly to the CD-changer connector at the back of the concert... so there's no way to select the external aux audio source....

Any ideas? How did you solve this Issue...

Regards and congratulations for your project, really nice your leather screen cover....

In my case I ordered this product http://jbipes.home.comcast.net/ttr/auxin4.html

to connect the sound from the computer to the AUDI CD unit. It works very well and I can still use the CD player.

Well in my case I decided not to order the original cd-changer Audi offered, so I need an interface which emulates control signals allowing for an auxiliary audio input in my concert II head unit. The solution both of you (xequtor and aguila) used, unfortunately won`t work for me.... I've done extensive research I can assure you...

I'm almost sure I'll end up purchasing a pro-asseblied interface from connects2 or dietz, and do it the fast, cowardly way

    Regards....

@xequtor: I'm planning to attach my laptop (permanently for it's an old P III laptop I'm no longer using) to the back of the right rear seat, as you did, I'm using Velcro to fix it, will it be enough or do you recommend an additional strap belt like the one you used?

I used wooden plate +/- 5mm thick then i glued the big Velcro (2 on the top and 1 on the bottom) tho the plate and other Velcro part to top case of the Notebook. I use one scrue to hold the plate to the back of the right rear seat and it holds, but to be on the safe side you can use more.
I have this set-up for like 4 months and no problem at all.
If you wont I can make so mote pics of the plate and Velcro.

By the way, I assume you are not leaving a fantastic sony Vaio permanently condemned to live in your trunk... so, how do you turn your laptop on/off from the inside. I've opened my toshiba satellite and after locating the pins on the motherboard where the power switch is connected to... I soldered two small cables which I took out of the case via a small drilled hole on the laptop case... I use a small button switch to close the circuit and this way I can turn on/and off my laptop from the inside.

What was your approach to solve this issue.

More details about work in progress can be reached in http://www.solocarputer.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=85

Don't your latop get really hot behind the backseat? Seems like there's no ventilation for the laptop.

It has enough space for ventilation and it is just PIII 1.2Ghz so no heat.

@Mattlocked - Have you seen this site:

    http://www.k9spud.com/vwcdpic/

It fools the VW headunit into thinking there's a CD changer attached, allowing access to the changer's audio lines for MP3, iPod, etc. Its reported to work with various VWs and Seats. Since Audi is a part of VAG, is their audio system internally different or the same?
