I bought the extra bin at Best Buy I think, and chopped it up. It just happened to be close to the same color. If you have a 96 to 98 I think, I know its a strange job. You have to cut a square out, where you still have some of the indentations from the original controls showing. But the edge of the radio and the bin I chose covered it. I wish I could say I did a real nice job with that, but it was alot of bending and cutting to get those two to fit into the metal cage in the rear. I am going to scrap the metal bin behind the plastic to mount the screen and fiberglass everything. What I am thinking about doing if I have to, is to cover up the edges by making an aluminum trm piece. Although I want to buy the console for a newer model because it moves the ac to the bottom giving me alot of room, and letting me put the screen at the top. When you are ready to open up the RL console, let me know and I will send you the instructions. its not as simple as you may think.

In my opinion, the amp I got is perfect. It provides more power then any head unit you would buy, and has four channels. 70Watts x 4. Most head units are 50watts per channel or less. If you are just running the normal car speakers, no subs, then I don't think there is anything better. Even if you do run subs, you can use one of these amps for that as well. It is all about the outputs on your sound card. It has 4 channels, so you have a channel for each corner of the car, so you can control it the same way a head unit would, like left adn right, and front and back. With a sound card that has front and rear outputs, like most of the sound blaster cards, then you can control the sound the same way the head unit would, and use the properties for the sound card to control it, although you can do the same with the amp. You can controlt the bass and treble from the amp and from the sound card. To make a long story short, you can do the same with this setup as you can with any head unit. If you need some more info, let me know. krose@dirigirdata.com I did alot of research on this because I wanted the surround sound that comes in the car anyway, and so movies sound good. If you want some help with the sound card and the amp so you know you are getting the right thing, let me know. I bought a sound card that was way more then I needed. You only need a sound blaster card with the front, rear, adn sub outputs. Thats my opinion though.
Here is a link to the guy I bought my amp from. It is the same amp that is at Best Buy for $149.

I don't think they have emoticons to show what I am thinking about. Maybe if I could record something that played with the emoticons, then I might do it.

This is the original chopping job for those who wanted to see. This is the back of the lilliput. The white wire is to control the volume and IR sensor. You can also see I chopped up the plug for the lilliput becaue it wouldn't let my door to the ash tray and cigarette lighter open. The little wires coming out the back are for the lilliput speaker that I just cut. The other pic is of the hard drive. I used soft foam and hot glue to make a little box. And no more about the foam, it was the first setup with what I had.

The foam is just to keep the hard drive from bouncing around or taking hits over speed bumps as much as possible. It might not have been needed, I know others just attach it straight to the car, but I figure I would take the percaution. Its just to absorb some punishment on these roads in Houston.

I will have to enclose the bottom part eventually so I can cool that area though, or unless I get little tiny computer. I had alot of problems with interference from the inverter, so I had to ground the power supply, and I think I have to ground the motherboard as well today.
I've got the same brand and type of inverter except that mine is a teal color. Anyways, PLEASE direct me to the thread that explains how to fix the inverter overload problem, thanks.

Well I finally started the new carPC. I changed just about everything but the screen and the amp, and my TV card. Heres what I got. You can tell its completely different then before.
    -M10000
    -512 Memory
    -M1-ATX power supply
    -Morex 2699 Case
    -Sound Blaster USB surround sound
    -8" Xenarc
    -Hauppage TV/FM tuner card w/remote
    -iGuidance v2.0
-XMPCR, w aftermarket antenna outside car
    -160 gig Maxtor
    -TV antenna w/booster
-Media Engine, Navivoice, Phone Control, Frodoplayer
-Pioneer 4 Channel Amp 300 watts

I still haven't ran the microphone to the front and to the sun visor. I am still going to move the screen up with a newer model dash that has the ac controls at the bottom.

You can tell it looks alot better then before, alot cleaner at least.

It was a pain in the *** to run to mount the one card in the case, didn't fit that well, and I had to remove the fans. I also had to splice into the power wires to move them outside the case for other things. I still have to clean it up, and might move the computer to the other side of the car. I hooked up the FM antenna wires to the antenna in the rear window, and that worked perfectly. It was a tight fit in that case.
