    98 Ford Expedition

I'm getting closer and closer, the front is done, just time to build all the rear cosmetics.

    The Truck

Rear Enclosure, I still need to build the panels that mount to the rear just leaving the amp tops sticking out, as well as left/right sides to completly "finish". None of the cut plastic or wood you see will be showing, and the carputer face extends through the panel 1/8" as well.

Multiple 4 channel amps running 2 8+ solobarics and 4 sets of pold 6.5, 5.25, components.

Carputer mount minus harddrives and propossed ps/2 location, the ps/2 will have to be pulled out another 1/2" to flush through the panel that will be here

Full center console, lower and upper halfs rebuilt. If you've seen an expedition, normaly infront of the cup holders is a recessed pocket, I cut it out and biult it up at least 4" at the top where it comes in contact with the dash, the cig light door barley opens.

Lower center console shot, all the audio equipement is Memphis Audio, minus the Pioneer 6600DVD Head unit, it also has a flip out screen, and controls a 6 disc dvd changer, along with the carputer, the ps2, the h/u and changer, each monitor (2 7" up front, 2 6.5 in each headrest, and a 19" flip down over the enclosure box) can have a seperate video, and 4 sets of wireless headphones makes sure each person hears what they are watching..

Upper center console/radio trim bezel w Lilliput LinITX on its way, and the glare is lame, so I need to rebuld and recess about 1.5" I think.

Full Shot, rear to front, minus the 19" flipped down. Just for a over all feel. Time to finish up and make changes.

Thats what I got so far. A lot of components are hidden (a/v switches, gps. xm on computer, mobile satellite and tuner, 3 optmia yellow cells, etc, etc)

Will update more when the SKIN is on everything...

I live in SD, have gps tracking on the car, lojack, paging alarm, key coded ignition, plus without a seperate remote, the battery WILL not feed the starter, so no starting no matter what (most theifs have no Idea about this new no battery/no start system).

And I DONT park where I dont trust, your right, in a ghetto, I'd be fighting all day long, thing is, its not a 64 on D's so the real thiefs pass it up looking for the front/back/side to side and gold 24" rims.....

I just gotta be carefull in redneck territory...

I went to a autobody supply and paint shop, popped off a trim piece, brought it in, Dude used color slides to compare, but could have lazer tested to get a "mix" but with a perfect match of SEM spray paint (its more than paint, its got some toughness to it). For instace in my base color, they had 25 diffrent shades. The spray paint was applied over "spray texture" material (goto your local non chain car stereo shop that does real installs and ask the installation bay manager if you can order it (they will have it if they are a fabrication shop). It took 3 cans of texture and sanding and then wet sanding to match the factory "texture" and 2 cans of SEM to do what your tooking at.

You know, there is a Dye that you can dip your parts in, supposivly its as tough as the original plastic color, but I dont make it a habbit to toss things at my touchscreen, the center console the Rottwieller went after someone walking by and slightly scratched (come steal my ****!), so now when she's along and I know I might be parking, I toss a towel over it, simple as that...

Man, just dumped 1600.00 for 4 Mickey Tompson Baja Radials (the ones with steel belting with fiberglass belting on top of steel for extra stiffness and protection) at 38x13.50x16 (I wish I could have afford new 18" rims as it looks like the trend is since a 38x13.5x18 is much less rubber than a x16" the price is actually starting to trend to cost less....

Anyways, the tires got 3" bigger as well...

Wow! What a major install. Looks awesome.

re: the damping material, do people usually put it on top of the wires and cables? I'm getting ready to embark on this (the sound damping) and I thought it would be better to have the wires run above the material. What are your thoughts on this?

Also, I used to live in La Jolla. Whereabouts are you in SD? Also, I noticed your last name...any relation to Rick?

Take care and thanks for the very detailed info and pics!
