    F355 Install

I just finished my Car PC install, and wanted to let you lot see the outcome. There's not a great deal to see - I wanted to keep the installation as discrete as possible so the only thing you can see is the in-dash screen. I've put a false bottom in the storage compartment (this is at the front of the car as it is mid engined), with the PC laying flat. Still need to make the cover for it, but I couldn't wait that long before posting !

I've installed an MII 12000, with single DVD and 80Gb notebook hard drive. Carnetix power supply, 512Mb RAM and currently using Frodoplayer (need to choose skin yet). Screen is a DWW-7VGA.

I had a problem with getting lots of noise from the audio. "Here we go" I thought - interference from power cables etc - but no, I just hadn't plugged the line out jack in properly! I was pleased when I found that out. I'm a bit anal when it comes to modifications - I don't like to permanently modify anything, so this entire installation is reversible. I haven't had to drill a single hole or cut any wires.

Big thanks to all who've posted on this site in the past. I've not asked many questions during my install but that's because most of the answers are already there in the archives.

Got to get to grips with the whole 800x480 thing now...

    Ric.

Yes, I am in the UK.

I'll try and get some pics of the stuff in the storage compartment in the next couple of days.

Here's a few of the car in the meantime...

I need to sort out a bitmap for my boot screen too.
