My in car computer installation has completed
The computer is responsible for navigation, MP3 music playback, video playbkac, web browsing, traffic reporting, gaming and anything else a computer is capable of
The system utilizes a VIA Epia M10000 mainboard, 256MB PC2100, 40GB 2.5" 5400RPM HD, 802.11g PCI card with external magmount 7dbi antenna, Opus DC-DC 90W PSU
Note that Im not using an inverter in this setup but rather a specialized in vehicle computer powersupply made by Opus Solutions. It regulates the DC battery voltage to a proper 12v and then also provides the startup and shutdown control for the computer (controlled upon ignition/acc wire)
Here are pictures detailing the progress and final result
To house the motherboard, I constructued a fiberglass mounting surface. This was my first time fiberglassing or doing anything similar to this so it isnt masterful but I am not a master.
Masked off area where fiberglass is to be applied
Result

Backseat taken out; you can see the cables run on the opposite side of the car (VGA, audio, USB)
Car ripped apart - very sad looking. I had to drive the car around like this (minus the headunit) for 2 days. Got quite a few looks. People probably though I stole it
Headunit/HVAC removed
Work begins on integrating the DigitalWheelz mount

interesting you decided to go with such a small motherboard and cut back on performance (but at least these things are very low on power consumption), you had plent of room for something nicer......looks great though I like it a lot. I'd love to take the time to do something like that.
